Difference between a Cult and Occult

Let’s get occult out of the way first.  Occult is Greek for “hidden” which does not make it evil or suspect.  Doctors speak of “occult blood” meaning blood in such small amounts that one must locate it by microscope.  In religion it refers to hidden messages, systems, or procedures that may not be seen or known to the general public.  That does not necessarily make them evil.

What is hidden is not necessarily evil

But incantations and curses certainly can be called occult and evil.  When I taught at a woman’s prison the director found beside her office window a freshly dug hole containing a sack with a boiled silver quarter and some pieces of chicken.  I was told this was a curse of some sort known to island peoples.  Santeria is filled with stuff like this. That makes it a cult.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santer%C3%ADa

A Cult worships its own doctrine

A cult was defined recently as any religious group which worships its own doctrine.  By this definition we can find many examples.  For practicing homosexuals I notice that is their one issue and it impacts their whole lives.  The gays I have known talk of nothing else; all their decisions are based on this, political, social, financial, and of course personal.  One prominent gay has his library-study lined with pictures of well-known homosexuals, including Leonard Bernstein who was a close friend of this man’s partner. https://www.thedailybeast.com/felicias-letter-to-leonard-bernstein-you-are-a-homosexual-and-may-never-change?ref=scroll

The same patterns apply to a feminist who supports not only women’s rights but also in many cases their superiority, plus abortion.  These are often called one-issue voters. We are speaking here now of individuals not of PACS and organizations which lobby for specific legislative and judicial change.  They may have cult followers but they are obeying the laws on activism which are legal.

Legalism cheapens the gospel

But now to religion.  Here is where that sharp two-edged sword of the spirit slices Christians as well as non-believers.  There are denominations that say you cannot belong to our church if: (1) You are divorced (2) Not baptized in water (3) Not a member of this church (4) Not taken special training or schooling (5) Not married.  This is cult behavior.  It limits Christ and cheapens the gospel because it puts the emphasis on the natural world not the spiritual world. We are saved by faith but not faith in food or faith in ideas or liturgies.

Jewish Food Laws

Some Messianic Jews I know teach that the food laws and other Old Testament rules must continue to be followed when they become Christians.  The term for this behavior is “Judaizers” and is forbidden in the New Testament for good reason.  It means that Christ’s death for sins for not sufficient.  These people don’t go to hell, but their share in the glory of salvation is reduced.  See Deut 4:2 and Rev 22:19. http://Deuteronomy 4:2 New King James Version (NKJV) 2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Every denomination has some false teachings

One Catholic woman refused to speak to me after I told her we distributed Bibles in Mainland China so people could be saved by reading them (which they often were.)  We would tell them that “even though we must return to America, you can get to know Jesus with this book.” But her church taught that only a person (a priest in her instance) could give the message of God.  That is false doctrine because it puts the burden for salvation on humans and not on the deity.  Anything that takes away from the person and the work of Christ is wrong.  God is not limited; we are the limited ones.

The true church is spiritual

Some churches refuse to allow woman ministers.  To do so ignores the scripture, “In Christ there is no male or female.”  That tells the world their church is not “in Christ.”  Are they ready to accept that? Many very poor churches have female ministers, but when prosperity takes over, so do the men, which tells me that it is all about money.  God can hardly be amused. Galatians 3:28.

God holds ministers to a higher standard.  Many ministers think the opposite – that they can get away with stuff not allowed to them as private citizens.  One man I worked with thought he could lie and drink to a drunken state and it was OK because he had a thriving ministry.  But God is watching, and his ministry today is ashes.  We are all accountable to God, the more so for having been given a greater opportunity.

The Bible does not condemn drinking of alcohol

And while we are on alcohol.  The Bible says nothing about abstaining from beer and wine.  Strong drink is condemned, but the issue is not the drink, it’s the drinker.  Is it in excess?  All excess is called sin, which includes spending money, phone calls, text-ting, TV, music, sports, food and drink.  In this regard we all need correction.

To the contrary – wine makes glad the heart of man” so it’s OK. God never blames inanimate objects – like guns, food, drink, toys, or sex.  It is not the action or the item, but the person who makes his life sinful by excess or addiction.

Psalm 104:15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.

At one time I worked for a denomination which outlawed alcohol. A friend asked me how I could agree to this and I replied, “It’s the cost of doing business.” When I left that group I left their rules behind. It is not sinful to agree to company rules, but we must not ever do anything in violation of God’s holiness.

Obeying rules is the cost of doing business

Years ago a friend left employment with a huge national company which sells lawnmowers because they made carousing with women and alcohol a company practice. He was right. I think many people would divest themselves of that stock if they knew the facts. God does not honor long-term that kind of company policy.

When you attend services is your choice

Seventh Day Adventists have made huge contributions to their fellow man especially in the medical field but I still find so many insist that you must go to church on Saturday to be right with God. There is a scripture that specifically says this is not so:

Colossians 2 (New King James Version)4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. and 16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths

Ultimately our position with God is not about behavior but our attitude. As we get into the presence of God we learn that dependence on Him and his Word is what gives us life.

Legalism is cult behavior

The rules will fall off like heavy winter clothes when spring comes.

God’s Judgment upon Nations – and why

Print Friendly and PDFThis is a topic about which few people write. But the Bible is clear; in addition to individual judgment, nations will be called to account. Does this happen after the end of time, during time, or some other time? Perhaps all three.

Let’s look at the map. China is the largest single nation in terms of population on the face of the earth. It is rife with poverty and lack of rain. In spite of the fact that China has been a distinct national group she has been a land of war for the better part of 4,000 years. All their pride in longevity does not erase the the reality of failure in so many ways. But look at what China did.

China swiped two nations, Mongolia, which is about the same age as China, and Tibet. That happened around 70 years ago and the wounds and anger have not subsided. You can be sure when things do not improve God’s word has been violated in some way. Here is the scripture.

Acts 17:26 And He has made from one blood[a] every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,

The Greek word in this passage is “ethnos” meaning an ethnic group of some kind, usually based on language.

God says nations must not grab and from others

In other words, keep your hands off another nation, their people and their land mass. Period. Because China was weakened by civil war, the Japanese got their hooks into China in the 1930s perpetrating great evil on the Chinese people – and look what happened to Japan at the end of World War II.

Germany got greedy and took Austria, Poland, Italy and France, headed towards England, Spain, Russia and the rest of the Slavic nations. Look at what happened. Germany was basically destroyed. Only the work ethic of Germans brought it back, and Germany did apologize for its anti-Semitic behavior finally.

A public apology helps

Japan has not apologized, and she continues to move 3 steps forward and 2 back decade after decade. Not only has Japan not apologized for its wickedness (think of the Rape of Nanjing 1937) http://www.historyplace.com/worldhistory/genocide/nanking.htm

but Japan is now romancing Mongolia because she wants land and Mongolia is the largest land-locked nation on the globe. The Mongolians have reason to be angry at China and they might just welcome Japan. The Chinese have reason to be nervous once more.

Evil leaders mean trouble

Then there is North Korea, a dying nation with reports of cannibalism. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/worldviews/wp/2013/02/05/the-cannibals-of-north-korea/

China created this false barrier against the Japanese and the Americans, and North Korea has been a threat, much of that hot air, ever since. North Korea needs to return to its natural language fold – and will according to many modern prophets. [see KimClement.com]

Is anyone more miserable than the Muslims? See the constant wars in the Middle East. The Islamic religion (Koran) says that Islam will take over the whole world, or death to non-believers, called “infidels” a simple, direct theology which is creeping into every nation. But their losses continue. They kill at random, esp. women and children. Allah is descended from the ancient god of war. https://www1.cbn.com/churchandministry/1400-years-of-christian-islamic-struggle

How can a group survive if they kill off both the next generation and the women who will produce children? Don’t try to answer that one. Death is not a solution to the world’s problems. God says He wants life,

and life more abundantly. John 10:10

God’s plan is not abortion but life. Islam is going the exact opposite way from God.

The Middle East is a giant mess, politically and economically. When Egypt agreed to be at peace with Israel all was well. Now, no more. Egypt ended its provision of oil to Israel and the bottom dropped out of their own oil supply while Israel found 100 years of oil under their land. We say in Texas – Don’t mess with Texas. In Israel they say Don’t mess with Israel.

In fact there is a scripture for that.

Genesis 12:3 – (paraphrased) If you bless God’s people, He will bless you. If you curse God’s people God will curse you.

I’m not saying this because I am a Christian and an American – but because I have read the Word and I know what it says. More importantly, I know God means it and He won’t change His mind. Period.

You are not convinced? Look at Africa’s 200 years of constant wars. The Muslims in Sudan fought for South Sudan with much killing and terror. But South Sudan was able to separate itself as an individual nation in 2012 and is very prosperous. Now North Sudan is separate and living in poverty. That is what war does. It brings poverty and poverty is another sign of God’s displeasure.

So God continues to judge those nations which out of order and not working for the good of their own people and that of other nations.

Explaining the Trinity

We say in church “God in three persons blessed Trinity.” Unfortunately this in no way explains the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The reference comes from the Latin Vulgate translated by Jerome in common use for many years in the Roman Catholic Church. Vulgate refers to the common language of the ordinary Italian at the time.

In that Bible the Godhead is referred to a “personna” meaning person. However, the original New Testament was written in Greek (with a little Aramaic) and the word to describe the God head is “homousias” meaning “the same essence.” While this term is hard to define, personna makes it worse.

What is an Essence

Consider this. You step into an elevator and there is a pleasant fragrance. You surmise that some woman has been in the elevator and leftover is her perfume. You think, “That might be vanilla!” The woman is no longer there but the fragrance lingers on.

Later you arrive at your appointment and voila! You smell that same scent. But this time the receptionist is that woman. It is distinctive now on her. There is no mistake about it. It identifies her.

So it is with God – not three different gods which personna suggests but the exact same essence or scent.

In 325 C.E. the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church in Rome at the Council of Nicea determined that indeed God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit were all the same essence, unique to them but yet all the same.

So let us apply this to our understanding – God, Jesus and Holy Spirit are all “ousias” essence, and “homousias” = the same essence.

The 2nd Coming of Jesus

When Jesus returns at the 2nd Coming it is called the “para-ousias” a combination of ‘besides’ and ‘essence.’ The “ousias” or essence of Jesus will be with or beside us. Perhaps only those who know him originally will recognize His scent when he comes?

Like the woman’s perfume in the elevator we recognize immediately – OH – I remember that from before and now recognize Jesus again now that He is here.

For others it may be the Smell of death.

2 Corinthians:2: 14-16 In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation—an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.

Isn’t it interesting that Paul, writing this book, would refer to fragrance Here? A Greek-speaker as he was would know ‘ousias’ as fragrance; Jewish believers would not know this word.

The smell of Death

The same idea is repeated in our references to the devil, the snake, who seeks us out. Snakes have poor eyesight but a keen sense of smell.  I wonder, does that snake smell the death on us, and then attack?

When Jesus comes back many people may not be able to smell the fragrance of the Almighty.

Why the Organized Church is Shrinking

Print Friendly and PDF
It appears not to be so . . . but the statistics are there. 30% of Bible believing Christians are not affiliated with an organized church according to both Barna and Pew studies, two groups which measure these things. [www.barna.org and http://www.pewforum.org] Why?

First, the church as presently organized is not based on the Biblical model. In several places the Bible says the church looks like a person, the neck bone is connected to the chin bone, connected to the jaw bone, connected to the head-bone, and so on.

Ezekiel 37:3-5 Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live:

You know the song.

Five causes of failure

Now look at the TV screen and you will see most churches are only a jaw bone, a single often very good and qualified person ministering, teaching, leading, traveling, raising money, doing good works and the like. This is not correct but it is still better than the 1600 year old Roman model, a group of gaily decorated men elected to a governing body which in turn elects a Pope which then not only decides what to believe but also determines who and when and where worship and other religious duties are performed. This is not Biblical either because it does not allow for new revelation and it takes the church out of the hands of the individual worshiper.

John 16:12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.

The unteachable will be left behind.

We may see the end of the Catholic church in our generation. Secular commentators will probably decide it is because of scandal and child sexual abuse but more than likely it is God Himself calling an end to something that is not scriptural. Protestant denominations have also followed part of this model except they allow congregational input, which may or may not be Biblical. I think of some groups allowing homosexual priests which is not only wrong, it brings a curse on them.

People join churches for the wrong reason – for economic or social contacts, so their children will be raised in a Christian atmosphere, or where they feel safe. Those churches surely will flounder. Many join groups because they don’t want their sin touched by truth; all of those will collapse.

Reason 2 Leadership issues

Second, church is to be run by a 5-member group: apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. The apostle, such as Paul, no matter how famous he is, no matter how powerful or popular or wise, must still return to the 5-member group (of which he is only 1 vote) and submit to those authorities. In addition the early church required a unanimous vote. Now that might be the hardest thing to copy in modern times!

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

Reason 3 False authorities

The third reason for failure is false authorities. God does not give ministries to the disobedient or those in error, or those whose personal life is tainted. The congregation is right is asking for an explanation from a father whose son has rebelled and is in jail. The minister is not to leave the ministry totally but to submit to correction. This is a hard standard but it is Biblical.

The true church has no relationship with the secular government. I suspect we shall see an end to charitable deductions when the tax code is overhauled. And high time. As a result many churches with a tainted situation will go under. Here is an example of a church on the way out.

https://www.christianheadlines.com//contributors/michael-foust/christian-leaders-gather-to-bless-texas-abortion-clinic-god-is-already-present.

The scriptures point to this: the angels will take the tares (those who pretend to be believers) and separate them from the wheat (the true believers) and then the end will come.

Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

We are seeing this separation

It is all too common for someone to say “God told me” when in fact they were talking to themselves. These ministries usually never get very far, and often do little harm but they are out there. God is not a tyrant; he will let you fumble along for years going nowhere until you start doing it His way, unless of course, you are completely in error, like teaching there is no hell! Then He will step in.

Reason 4 Denying God’s word, hence His will

A fourth cause of failure is denial of some part of the Bible. The most recent widespread denial came when the Baptism if the Holy Spirit was called false, or irrelevant. Most of those churches have gone by the wayside or are shrinking. Some groups give no authority to women or refuse to allow divorced members; they are weak and failing too. Churches like this may have huge memberships because there are people who need to feel superior because of their sex or race, or because they refuse to grow. God uses these people anyway but their ministry is confined to that one section of the Bible which they accept. Frequently however, their missionary efforts flounder. Anyone or group that denies any part of the Bible is actually under a curse, and that needs to be taken seriously.

Revelation 22:18-19 18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The true church of Jesus Christ will be “in Christ.” That means women and men, educated and uneducated, foreign and local will all be on an equal footing and eligible for leadership. Women who have been eager to serve God alongside men will rejoice, but the issue is being “in Christ.” Groups that will not accept everyone cannot be “in Christ” by definition.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

I look forward to seeing this day!

Reason 5 Silencing the voices from God

The last and most important reason is the presence of the Stronghold known as Jezebel. It is a spirit, and it is not to be confined to women. Jezebel silenced the prophets. A prophet is someone who speaks for God and teaches and promotes God’s words. Since this is the main mission of His church, it touches everyone who is doing God’s will. This demon power, a principality, is ruling over Washington, D.C. these days and in many, many churches. Jezebel is the main demon behind political correctness. It must be bound, gagged and its feet shackled. If churches will take this spirit seriously it will come down and bring many false ministries with it; it will also free up the true church.

So, you have your orders.

Game Theory and the Weakness in Christian Evangelism.

Economist John Forbes Nash won a Noble prize for game theory. He made two points. (1) The more valuable something appears to be in the minds of the competitors, the higher the price it generates. As an example, he noted that a beautiful girl created greater competition than just a pretty girl vying for the same group of young men.

(2) Competitors seek to keep the final price as cheap as possible, which he called equilibrium. For math-nuts there is a pile of equations which we will ignore here. Both theories apply to modern Christian evangelism.

Nash described a bar scene where a group of college boys discussed the girls. A pretty girl entered and several of the men, but not all of them, went over to get her attention. A little later on a drop-dead gorgeous girl came in and all the men gathered round.

The prize of the game – the girl – earned her value by her perceived worth to the men based on her beauty. Her actual value may have been very little – in fact she might be a tiresome pill. The merely pretty girl may be much more clever, intelligent and talented but this did not factor into the game.

Let us apply this to the issue of Christian evangelism. Clearly the most valuable thing available to humans today is the saving of their soul. Its loss is an eternal disaster.

If we apply game theory two things become obvious. Modern evangelism does not attach a high price to salvation. Television religious programming which reaches the largest audience focuses on the “love of God” to the point of leaving listeners to conclude that God is too nice and too tolerant to ever send anyone to hell.

Theologians dubbed this “sloppy agape” or “cheap grace” so what cost Him everything we regard lightly or not at all. It is one jump from there to the wrong conclusion that God saves everyone and that hell is a wild image from Renaissance literature, with gargoyles spitting and lashing out their tongues at us from the stone walls of ancient cathedrals. Some teachers even conclude that there is no hell at all except for a handful of really BAD people and we all know who they are! The rest they say end up in heaven.

There is a not a shred of evidence to support universal salvation or the absence of hell. To compare this with Nash’s theory, the beautiful girl that the men compete for is not all that beautiful, in fact, she may be very ordinary. Statistically we know that 30% of the born again believers do not go to churches. If there is no competition, no real loss in choices of life or death – why bother??

If hell is not really that big a deal, then being saved is not a big deal either. Many people already believe their sin is not so bad that anyone, much less they must die for it, but just to get their ticket punched each week they show up at church. Equilibrium for them is the uneasy self-satisfaction of knowing they have done their very least.

“Take No Sides in Issues involving Persons”

I was a Baby Christian when God spoke these words to me. Newly saved and looking for information and revelation on every side, these words surprised me. Now, 45 years later, I see I have both obeyed and not obeyed them many times.

In brief, here is what it means.

God is no respecter of person. Acts 10:34

But that needs explanation. “Persons” means that as far as God is concerned no level of authority, accomplishment, celebrity or talent is considered by God when He is assessing reality. Sonny and Cher have no more respect in God’s eyes than I or my grandchild. In God’s eyes we are all seen and known for what we are.

If my Congressman tells me something is good, and the Word of God says it is evil, my Congressman’s words mean nothing to God, and consequently also to me. God’s word is above all people and opinions. If however my Congressman says something that agrees with God’s word then I can agree with him (or her.)

For the next 7 years I spent many hours Bible teaching and counseling so these words were put into practice many times over. People repeated their tale of woe, and I am not saying it was not true, but God reminded me of His advice.

This person’s situation was not to be defined by them, but by Him and His Word.

In other words, I was not to take sides with this person against God. And you’d be surprised at how often that appeared to be what they wanted – not ministry, but sympathy. The Bible never endorses sympathy which is taking sides, but it seeks compassion which is the application of the love of and word of God to any situation.

Frequently that means examining the problem as sin and lack rather than victimization. Yes, I am sorry your daughter died at 42, but blaming God is a dead end. Yes, I regret and weep with you that your husband is a drunk, but it is not God’s fault that he drinks, nor is it God’s fault that he does not stop drinking either. And all your prayers that God intervene in that specific way are for naught.

Prayers asking God to change people do not work.

If you live a while you learn this. I was beaten savagely by my mother for many years and rather than stop her drinking I was removed from the home by Divine intervention. In fact, she died drunk at 73 having been saved in the last month of her life. The moral of the story is that God’s chief end for man is his salvation, not his reformation. After that, reform of behavior and reform of your thinking is expected; provision for this comes through the church and its members. Then change becomes a reality. In the meantime, He got me away from that situation through many miraculous interventions. That is called the grace of God, a story for another day.

Too often our prayers deal with externals, things that will make life easier for us, but more often than not, extreme discomfort is what God wants – try praying that instead.

Derek Prince, a leading Bible teacher of the 20th century whose works are available on the internet, used to say that we should pray that so-and-so will become desperate.

Desperate people seek God

And desperate people will seek God after they have tried everything else, blame, guilt (on other people), AA, AlaNon, pills, travel, money, fame – you name it. All the avenues of false change are before us, tempting us to agree with the evil by applying the natural solutions of self-indulgent ones.

God does recognize authority however, which we will take up in another post.

Guest Editorial by Dennis Michael “God’s Word and America Today”

Print Friendly and PDF
I found two verses in the Bible that I want to share with you that I believe pertain to today:

Job 9:24: When a land falls into the hands of the wicked, he (God) blindfolds its judges.

Psalm 12:14…the wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored by the human race.

You probably remember the chant that rang out at the Democratic convention last year: “No God! No God!” It sent an icy chill down my spine. Of course not all Democrats feel that way – probably most don’t. You may be a Democrat yourself. The “No God!” chant may not have represented the rank-and-file of the party; nevertheless, it was Democratic leadership speaking.

Does that mean the Republican Party is God’s party of choice, like I’ve heard some day? I think the answer is found in Joshua 5:13-15:

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and aa man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?” “Neither,” he replied,” but as commander of the Lord’s army of the Lord, I have now come.” Then Joshua fell face down and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

I could never understand why the commander of the Lord’s army – whom most biblical scholars believe was the pre-incarnate Jesus – claimed neutrality when the Jews were God’s chosen people. Then I discovered

Psalm 138:2:…You have magnified Your word above Your Name (Amplified Bible).

Amazing! The Lord places His word even above His name! It used to be said that a man’s name is only as good as his word. It looks like God agrees.

The commander of the Lord’s army didn’t come to defend Israel because He favored it – the Bible is clear that God is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). He came because of the everlasting covenant – the word – God made with Abraham in Genesis 17:7, promising to make him a father of many nations, giving Abraham and his descendants the land of Canaan as an everlasting possession, declaring, “I will be their God.”

So does God favor Democrats over Republicans? He favors His word.

America has been blessed more than any nation, not because we were more righteous than the rest of the world, but because our Constitution was framed according to the principles of God’s word. Above that, the Bible was honored, even if in name only, by most Americans. And because God places His word above his name, what we see happening to our country today is because God and His word have been pushed aside – masquerading as political correctness and civil/constitutional rights.

God owns the universe! And there is no distinction between church and state in His mind. The “No God! No God!’ chant at the Democratic Convention, the present scandals and lies, or at best twisting the truth are spiritual problems, not political issues.

I’ve asked myself if America’s seemingly decline aligns with end-time prophecy, why not sit back and watch it happen? Didn’t God send prophets to speak out against Israel’s sin, even though judgment against it as a nation was inevitable? As Christians, should we remain silent and not speak out against issues such as political corruption and legislation that violates God’s word, even thought the outcome may be inevitable for America?

How can these go unnoticed?

Time and again, the many wrongs of George Bush are brought up when the Obama administration is criticized as an excuse for Obama’s failures. For sure there was a carry over from the Bush years – but that doesn’t change or excuse the present problems. Are we Christians and Americans first? Or Republicans and Democrats first? It’s time to put party affiliation and even race, as some say is the reason why Obama is criticized, aside and look at the facts -NOW!

A friend of mine once told me that evil always overplays its hand.

Psalm 5:10 says, Declare them guilty (the arrogant and liars),

Absolutes vs. Anarchy

Print Friendly and PDF
The late Corrie Ten Boom writes of her watchmaker-father who traveled regularly to Amsterdam to record the official timepiece of Holland and then return home to reset, correctly, all the clocks in his shop. On one such trip he inquired of the clock managers in Amsterdam how they verified the time. They said they always set their clocks by checking a little known watchmaker named Ten Boom who lived in a little town in the south. Naturally Mr. Ten Boom discontinued his trips to Amsterdam since he was setting their clocks.

How do you establish what is true

But what should they do? They could contact the Greenwich, England office which sets a standard for time by reference to a number of atomic clock organizations. That should do it. But let us speculate that a sunspot caused that electronic clock to lose a quarter of a second; then all three clocks would be wrong. All the official clocks in the world would be wrong as well.

Circular reasoning

I am going somewhere with this so stick with me. This is called circular reasoning because each individual is using another to set the standard. If we want truth, we must go outside ourselves to find it – to an eternal reference point untainted by error. But where is that?

Truth is outside

I have a Buddhist-Thai friend who pays no attention to her religion. She has no interest in Christianity or any other religion, simply saying that she will be in heaven because she knows she will be in heaven. Her family is Thai and she is Thai and that’s all she needs to know. But her reasoning about life (and I might add death) is circular. She allows others who may or may not know anything outside of themselves set her beliefs. Because Thai people have told her she is going to heaven that seems to be all she knows or cares to know. But of what value is that?

Absolute truth exists

Like the circular verification of the watchmakers there is no absolute reference point outside themselves. Truth is just what someone thinks and that can easily be wrong. The Chinese believe that the sheer numbers of people who believe something makes it true. Now try that with a group of people.  Let’s say a small town of all black people believes, as a unit, that they are all female. How can we do that? It is anti-science.  Think of Galileo here.  Do we jail people for agreeing with science? How can anyone say they are a different gender when science, i.e. DNA, tells the story for all the billions of souls on the planet.

Transgender is antiscience

Enter God. He is outside of everything. He knows. He alone can tell you if the watch of your life is set wrong, who you are and where you are going. There is no one as miserable as a person who allows other people to dictate who they are. This is called determinism which never allows you to change or grow.

Secular theorists bristle over the Judeo-Christian absolutes of a God and His Word. After all if there are absolutes and a God who made them then Man might just face a day of accountability.

Personal anarchy

Without those absolutes, individuals have a free rein of personal anarchy. The opposite of absolutes is the folly of allowing human kind to determine truth while knowing intrinsically that humans are flawed. To say that reality is not reality is the true definition of neuroses.

I worked in a juvenile prison and the most common thing I heard was, “That kid has a record.” Of course he did. They all did.

So I told the students, I don’t care what your record is. I want you to learn what is true about the good and potential in you, and how your life can be ruled. If you don’t rule yourself, the State will do it for you and that is a life of misery. Believing that your opinion is reality makes as much sense as planning a dental appointment for the year 2013.  It won’t happen; it can’t happen. Some of them heard me.

There are young people today who have this notion that they are another gender. This is not necessary. God knows who and what you are, so consult Him.

This is true for everyone. God can and will tell you who you are, where you are going and what you can do with your life. You may find someone who can help you along this line, but if not you are allowing people who don’t know the truth set the time of your life. And it may be wrong.

My own standard is the Holy Bible. I include all secular information which verifies God’s. It is my rock of belief. I am never disappointed.

Christian Bullies

Print Friendly and PDF
Attending a large church several years ago I witnessed a sad event involving a badly disabled young man and a group of young prayer people. I was sitting on the front row between two services as people filed in to hear a special speaker. Several young ministers or possibly friends were praying for this man’s healing. It did not appear that he had actually asked for prayer. Unfortunately they forced him to walk up to the altar and back over a period of about 10 minutes. He was exhausted and crying.

Bullies want their own way

They then showed him scriptures, and as he was crying I could see grief over his lack of faith, his frustration, his agonized desire to please his friends and to be healed, and disappointment in God. It was all over his face. But most worrisome is these young ministers apparently did not know the Biblical pattern of the healed man taking his own steps after the word of God has healed him.

Not for one moment do I think these young men meant anything malicious in their actions. We were all young once in the ways of God.

But I reacted and whispered, “Oh no he won’t be healed.” A young woman standing next to me was clearly horrified and started praying against my prayers as though it was my negative confession that prevented him from getting his healing.

Assumptions keep us from truth

This woman assumed my comment prevented the healing, not realizing that faith is the substance of what is hoped for, not my observation that this man was being bullied into being healed. That won’t happen. God does not honor that kind of behavior.

It;s “Christian bullying.” The more they pressured this fellow and the more they forced him to walk on bent stumps of legs the more agonized his face. Everyone here was well meaning – so what went wrong?

God has the way his Kingdom is to be run

God insists that His work be done His way. This is the main flaw in churchianity today. The person who is to be healed is the one whose faith must be activated; the young men probably felt their faith was up to the task of healing the cripple. But that is not faith – it is presumption.

Presumption is not pryer

When I pray for someone to be healed I am fully aware that I have not one medical skill to offer. The only person who does any healing is Jesus. The only person who can receive it is the one for whom you pray, and that person cannot be forced into it any more than Jesus can be forced to answer a prayer the way you want.

Faith gets things done – but it may not be your faith

People often refuse to pray for another person’s healing saying, “But I don’t have enough faith.” True, you don’t, and that is quite right. You don’t have the faith to heal; you can’t in yourself heal anyone. I cannot fail when I pray for you to be healed because I know only Jesus does it. It is not on my back. But neither does 15 minutes of loud scripture reading and vocal pressure do anything either.

We are to use wisdom in praying for all men. Whatever else, this was not the right time, and browbeating this fellow not only did not get him healed, it increased his desperation.

Wisdom, and caution, must precede ministry every time. Ministers need to teach this lesson to their lieutenants because when they wrongly minister they bring grief to the Holy Spirit.

God and Politicians

God doesn’t care whether Obama is a citizen or not – he loves him as he does all his creation. He doesn’t care if Trump blusters and carps.

But the Presidency itself is a totally other matter. We pray on two different levels – 1- for the rectitude of the government which may require the fall of a faux-president and his cronies and 2 – for the fallen man involved in the fraud. We cannot mix the two. God will not destroy Obama because he is a phony, but he certainly will save him if He can as a human. I have less hope for the “wicked” counselors at his side many of whom are being exposed as we speak, and many will face jail time.

The work is done – in other words we have, as a nation, prayed for a major drastic change and we ware getting it at dozens of levels. The church has done its work – now it is time for God to come thru. We can sit in the stands as it were and watch the game continue. We know, of course, in the end our team wins!

We have prayed for decades about the disintegration of our nation and in spite of what appears to be the victory of evil people. But the end is not yet.

In the NT Paul says we are “more than conquerors” –

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Conquerors march in a parade with their prey and trophies in chains behind them. God sits in the reviewing stand. As “more than conquerors” we are now sitting in the stands, comfortable. The Conquerors are in the parade. I like the picture. I am sitting back and relaxing but I continue to work for the spiritual reformation of my nation knowing that when America is moral and strong the world will have a mentor to follow.

How to Get to the Truth

Within just the past few weeks the Presidential election of 2012 in the USA became international – or at least exposed as international. Like cynical Pontius Pilate we may ask, “What is truth?” and to explain the mass of verbiage let’s go to John 4.

Jesus has deliberately walked many miles out of his way to Samaria and he begins a conversation with a Samaritan woman. It reeks of political campaign language. John 4 follows an incident where the Pharisees have lied, knowingly or not we can’t be sure, about Jesus’ behavior. And that is what political campaigns have increasingly become, lying contests, denial contests, or change-the-subject contests.

I don’t expect anyone to accept God’s invitation because of this protracted political campaign but I do want voters to recognize when they are manipulated by pols, polls, and diversionary tactics. God expects more from a free people than that. As voters we must learn how to extract the truth.

I’m quoting the Phillips version because he doesn’t mince words. And the conflict of good vs. evil, truth vs. fiction and carnal vs. spiritual is all contained in this seemingly innocuous passage.

John 4:7 a Samaritan woman arrived to draw some water. 8-9 “Please give me a drink,” Jesus said to her, for his disciples had gone away to the town to buy food. The Samaritan woman said to him, “How can you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a woman of Samaria?” (For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.)

Argument number 1: Justification by hate.

If anything defines the 2012 campaign it is hate. The pundits believe and promote, “If you disagree with me that is hate speech.” Check the newspaper – and you will see increasing hatred everywhere, such as letters to the editor. To-be-pitied Sarah Palin, not even a candidate, is condemned because she affirms some Bible principles and it is called hate speech. The word used was “vitriol.” Really? Is God’s word vitriol?

All men resist change

The woman at the well does not realize this but she is resisting change by affirming a generations–long animosity between Samaritans and Jews. Without common ground, she also is saying, in effect, you cannot speak to me, because of your attitude. At the foundation of any discussion, and especially possibly about God, is the assumption that the sinner does not want any sin exposed.

Presumably if we can get Jesus talking about differences between old enemies or even taking some blame himself we can then take sides with the people we hate less. If we can divert the argument to someone else’s sins, esp. those from history, we will not be talking about the woman’s sin (which will come up soon enough.) If I hear one more time about how I am not accountable because of George Bush’s I will (you fill in the blank,) And maybe too, God is at fault for allowing George Bush to become President. You can see where this is going.

The hate movement of 2012 is now world-wide, the burning of American flags all over the Muslim globe and not condemned elsewhere, the hatred in Sudan, the blossoming Antisemitism in Germany (we thought this was dead, right?) the hatred between China and Japan which has deep roots, and is, like the woman, a subtle attempt for the leaders in Beijing to get Chinese attention to an old enemy and off the increasing protests of the common man against a fat-cat government.

China’s public image of “celestial harmony” is in reality a cacophony of off-key voices – the coolie who is supposed to man-up and obey every whim of a morally-challenged bureaucracy. The root of bitterness is always available to the alert and frequently opportunistic Statist appealing to the baser emotions of fear, envy, bitterness, hatred, unforgiveness and greed.

Even the Amish, whose 1st principle is to keep oneself untainted by the world, {Romans 12:2} went to court over hate speech, i.e. cutting beards. When the Amish fall from grace, we should pay attention.

Jesus refuses to answer on the level of emotion. An emotion-based campaign is bound for failure as the issues before the voters are based not on feelings but on the reality of governance. An ever-alert media certainly does not want anyone looking at issues since their lazy reporting standards are part of the problem. But I digress. Under conviction of sin…

Argument 1: people will change the subject

Jesus does not allow her to change the subject. His point is not what culture says, but what God says. He is asking individuals to make a stand.

10 “If you knew what God can give,” Jesus replied, “and if you knew who it is that said to you, ‘Give me a drink’, I think you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water!”

Jesus shifts the focus. “Living water” is a free-flowing stream. Well-water is not necessarily contaminated but it is not flowing. He is saying, I am not going to talk politics, history, or emotion but about the position and accountability of God.

Argument 2: Process

11-12 “Sir,” said the woman, “you have nothing to draw water with and this well is deep—where can you get your living water? Are you a greater man than our ancestor, Jacob, who gave us this well, and drank here himself with his family, and his cattle?”

Who owns the well is immaterial. It is the water you drink not the plat plan.

As you might suspect, she reverts to type – let’s talk about process, about how you are going to get living water from a well. For a month newsmen want Mitt Romney to talk about specifics. He doesn’t; he sticks to principles. There is something here more important than policy. Jesus is challenging her to increase her information and understanding. In today’s lazy politics, thinking is exhausting. And she throws in culture too.

Argument 3: Culture

Besides, the woman continues; her well is superior because of her ancestor. Like the campaign of 2012 this should not be about genealogy. Black, Hispanic, white, Indian, straight or gay, this is not about one’s superior genes, or the entitlements you anticipate from that connection. The incessant dividing people into groups, positions, ethnics, and labels has been a problem in American politics for generations. But it does not affect the quality of the water in the well, or in fact, its relevance to the issues.

Argument 4: Religion

Jesus won’t let her avoid the issues.

13-14 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water I will give him will never be thirsty again. For my gift will become a spring in the man himself, welling up into eternal life.”

Truth is a person and His words

Jesus now makes claim for Himself. We are no longer talking politics or religion.

15 The woman said, “Sir, give me this water, so that I may stop being thirsty—and not have to come here to draw water any more!”

Jesus has from her a plea, an un-met need, something He requires from man.

Zechariah 4:10 the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth

Seeking someone wanting God.

16 “Go and call your husband and then come back here,” said Jesus to her.

Now, exposed sin

Oh Oh, we hit pay dirt. The bottom line for Jesus is always sin, not the government, not the parties, not the issues, but sin. All the pre-talk has been about skirting the facts. Jesus knew all along, but let her talk.

17-18 “I haven’t got a husband!” the woman answered. “You are quite right in saying, ‘I haven’t got a husband’,” replied Jesus, “for you have had five husbands and the man you have now is not your husband at all. Yes, you spoke the simple truth when you said that.”

We thought this would nail the deal. But no –she calls him a prophet. Yes, she is saying, He has superior information but no, my religion is about something else.

Isn’t it interesting how when we start talking about sin, someone changes the subject and lights into religion. Religion, as defined by the Bible, is mercies to widows and orphans and staying pure. No church, synagogue or mosque is involved.

Being threatened, someone will compliment

19-20 “Sir,” said the woman again, “I can see that you are a prophet! Now our ancestors worshiped on this hill-side, but you Jews say that Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship—”

This is classic avoidance. It reminds me of the fellow who called Jesus good, thinking perhaps he was getting in His best graces, and then being rebuked for it. Jesus always went right to the heart.

Have you noticed how politicians can change the subject at will, or worse yet, spend five minutes talking about something else and then saying, “What is your next question?” Do they need to be trained in this? Of course not. It is natural for sinful man to change the subject when uncomfortable truth is called for. Perhaps a compliment will keep this person from stinging you again.

21-24 “Believe me,” returned Jesus, “the time is coming when worshiping the Father will not be a matter of ‘on this hill-side’ or ‘in Jerusalem’. Nowadays you are worshiping with your eyes shut. We Jews are worshiping with our eyes open, for the salvation of mankind is to come from our race. Yet the time is coming, yes, and has already come, when true worshipers will worship in spirit and in reality. Indeed, the Father looks for men who will worship him like that. God is spirit, and those who worship him can only worship in spirit and in reality.”

Jesus did not fall into the politically correct trap of saying every religion eventually leads to God. It doesn’t. He does not endorse a religion as being essentially ”peaceful” or true. Jews do know more, He claims, but they don’t know everything because I am the Messiah and the Messiah himself is truth.

25 “Of course I know that Messiah is coming,” returned the woman, “you know, the one who is called Christ. When he comes he will make everything plain to us.”

When someone is backed into a wall, they agree, but she is saying to Him, I like what you are saying but I am looking elsewhere. This is good theology.

Agree with your adversary when you are in the way with him. {Matthew 5:25}

But her hopes that this will put him off fail.

26 “I am Christ speaking to you now,” said Jesus.

Finally, confrontation.

The woman may not be all that taught about who the Messiah is; after all she has been isolated from teaching for possibly a long while, and certainly her morally-flawed lifestyle has not been addressed by any group, just the shunning of her peers. But she sees the potential in this man. That is where we are, or so many of us were – not knowing everything but at least seeing a glimmer of truth.

The disciples return and fall back into old patterns. (It’s a good thing they weren’t there to hear this exchange. I can visualize them piping up with something wrong, as they do often enough.)

27-30 At this point his disciples arrived, and were surprised to find him talking to a woman, but none of them asked, “What do you want?” or “What are you talking to her about?”

Why didn’t the disciples question Jesus? They did often enough on other occasions. Possibly, like the woman they were afraid of what they might hear.

The woman returns with the townspeople. Yes, they don’t know much, but they have believed and are now on the path to truth. For those of you who think Islam is hopeless, this is a lesson. The most religiously-demented can be changed, or make a change. Somewhere there is a woman who will say, “This man is the one.” The messenger is the one with the testimony. All else is theory.

31 So the woman left her water-pot behind and went into the town and began to say to the people, “Come out and see the man who told me everything I’ve ever done! Can this be ‘Christ’?” So they left the town and started to come to Jesus.

Jesus has given us a blueprint for reaching people, facing all their arguments and dodges. He is quite skillful, but the word of God says all men are the same. To present the truth this offers us a plan for presenting salvation.

What Happens when You Deny God?

When Jesus died in Jerusalem the event went almost unnoticed to the throngs of people there for Passover. This is often the case with momentous events. Their seriousness is realized years, maybe decades later.

A large group denied God

In the future you will note the astonishing events of September 6, 2012 when the Democratic Convention denied God – three times. The video is clear. By voice vote – an essential element in this tale – the word God which had been removed was to be voted back in. Three times the noisy crowd said no. But the obedient convention chairman, reading the tele-prompter said by 2/3rds vote the return of the word God was endorsed. A politically wise Obama had demanded an over-ride of the vote. The verbiage was innocuous at best – it simply cited “God-given” potential, a sentence seen in previous convention platforms.

But what the American people saw was that an entire political party had clearly said no to God. For this there are consequences.

Denying God is common

First – God counts what we say. He created the universe with words; we create our universe with words. We are saved by public confession of our submission to His Lordship.

Luke 6:45 Good people do good things because of the good in their hearts. Bad people do bad things because of the evil in their hearts. Your words show what is in your heart.

Second, those who deny must make things right later on. Ask the disciple Peter. He denied Jesus three times and lost his discipleship in the process. The angel said in Mark 16:7 to notify the disciples and Peter. Peter is not considered one of the disciples in this sentence. But Peter will regain his post. Here is the scripture.

Matthew 26:75 Peter remembered Jesus’ words, “Before the rooster crows you will deny me three times.” And Peter went out and cried uncontrollably.

The Process to Make Things right

It was necessary for Peter to affirm the Lordship of Jesus three times before he was reinstated.

John 21:16 He then asked a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”

“Yes, Master, you know I love you.”

Jesus said, “Shepherd my sheep.”

Then he said it a third time: “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”

Peter was upset that he asked for the third time, “Do you love me?” so he answered, “Master, you know everything there is to know. You’ve got to know that I love you.”

What, let us speculate, if Peter had died of a sudden aneurysm prior to reaffirming Jesus? Would he be in heaven or hell? I think Peter answers that question himself.

2 Peter 2:1 But among the people there were also false prophets, just as there will be false teachers among you. Under false pretenses they will introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, and thus bring on themselves swift destruction.

In Jewish law (not Biblical law) a man can divorce his wife by saying, aloud, “I divorce you.” And off she goes- no monthly stipend, no nothing. A child can be emancipated by the same process according to laws I read a few years back. If you deny parentage of that child and the court frees him from your rule in a twist of fate, you have to support him or her anyway. You don’t hear much about emancipation these days but the laws are there and social workers have studied them.

Judaism, Jerusalem and the Holocaust also denied

In addition the final platform removed reference to Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel. There should be little quarrel with this. The Jews place Jerusalem as the capital and the choice goes all the way back to King David, thousands of years ago. https://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/Netanyahu-Archaeology-DNA-prove-Palestinians-not-native-to-Land-of-Israel-594872

Now we really have God’s attention. Genesis 12:3 says those who bless you (the Jews) I will bless and those who curse you I will curse. The Muslims have decided that Tel Aviv is the capital of Israel and their plan is to take over all of Israel and make Jerusalem their own, and rename it Ishmael by the way! That is equivalent to cursing God’s people. Insulted twice.

Denying something has no power to make it go away

Registered Democrats even though they did not take part in this convention or support the convention’s removal of the name of God are still legally responsible for the actions of their party. They denied the Lord 3 times- verbally, openly, for the whole nation to see – and Israelis and our foreign enemies were watching too.

To reverse the curse, affirm God three times

We can start counting the three times the Democratic Party now must affirm God. The ugly truth is now out of the bag.

It may be decades before we see the full consequences, but from God’s standpoint, 9/6/12 was as important an assault as 9/11.

Reincarnation – a Great Cartoon

Print Friendly and PDF

Cartoonists often have subliminal messages that even they may not understand.

This cartoon makes an interesting statement. First notice that the new person that Steve Jobs becomes when he takes on a new body is a lowly Chinese coolie in an Apple factory. This emphasizes the fact that the dead have no control over the future -when they are dead. Steve’s opinion no matter how lofty in life means nothing hereafter.

Second, the Buddhists don’t like to be ordered around.

Third, saying you are a Buddhist and saying you are in heaven may not be true at all.

What kind of heaven is it if you don’t have something valuable. It looks like Steve Jobs is on his own in a foreign place. Hell would be a Chinese sweat shop.

The standard assumptions of reincarnation is that your future life will be better – but not here. The next assumption is that you have somehow magically avoided a judgment day – not so. To be a lowly coolie is judgment enough, but to date we have absolutely no proof that anyone ever returns from the grave as a new personality, or a new person.

By the way, we have many testimonials, see YouTube, from people who have been to both heaven and hell. Not all of them seem truthful, but if you watch 8-10 of each variety you’ll get a good handle on what the real places are like.

Reincarnation is a theory and a false comfort that merely postpones a judgment and little more. And by the way, who wants to come back as less than before? Wouldn’t you like a little progress? Wealth, status, opportunity, accolades were for Steve Jobs on this side of the grave. As a coolie- nothing. Not much to look forward to, eh?

The Reluctant Prophet

Print Friendly and PDF
This blog is largely prophecy, προφητεια in Greek. Prophets tell us what God speaks today, what He said in the past and possibly His view of the future.  Prophets can do this because God is in eternity and not constrained by time.

We apply His words to all of family life, politics, education, religion, business, Media, international affairs and the always fractious culture of arts and entertainment. Even the most irreligious nation lives in and promotes a moral world, or a substitute.

The Holy Bible is the only book God claims to have written.  When your life is in shambles, or even if you are just a person who wants a view into reality and the future, understanding the Bible and reading it are the place to be.  Welcome.  That is what we talk about here.

The Spiritual Roots of Abuse

plastic-womanOriginally published Februay 27, 2016 I have renamed it abuse to cover the main issue in violent and destructive behavior. Ultimately abusers do not know who they are and consequently they fail to recognize the personhood of those they abuse, including animals. It was originally entitled The Spiritual Roots of Islam.

Westerners have been for many centuries so isolated and separated from Muslim peoples that we are playing catch-up in our understanding.  We are hampered because we frequently don’t know a thing about our own  spiritual roots, any more than we know theirs.  It is easy to blame them for the massive evil on the earth, especially in Europe but their ways are creeping more into American life.

Abuse has a long history

At one time in the deep historical past, all men knew the same things.  They may not have obeyed those truths, but they were all on the same page.  They knew that God had created the heavens and the earth; they knew that a blood sacrifice was required for reuniting with that Creator God.  They knew that if you took a life, yours would be required of you.  This was prior to the Jews and their complete religious and social law.  Everyone even had the same language.

Languages separate people

After the languages changed culture changed and those assumptions, even though ignored, were gone and religious systems, magic, witchcraft, myth and Lord only knows what arose.  And out of Judaism arose Islam.  Today’s Islamic peoples do not know this, but their political-religious system is based on a lie.  Before we condemn them remember when you learned that you had been lied too?  You were furious – felt betrayed.

So for the moment ignore the fact that millions of Islamic believers are ignorant and deceived.  It’s the roots we are examining here, not modern man.  We’ll get to him in due time.

Two worldviews based on either truth or lies

The lie started with the birth of Ishmael, the first son of Abraham who had been promised by God that he would be the father of many nations when his wife Sarah had a baby boy. As it would happen, Sarah became impatient and suggested that her husband have a child by a slave woman.

The Islamic nations now living descended from their patriarch Ishmael believe that because he is the first son, they are  entitled to the promise God gave Abraham.  He is not.  God’s promises are specific and not open to interpretation or change. (Malachi 3:6 – I am the Lord. I change not.) Sarah had to be the mother of Isaac. Period.

It is an important point. God considers women important and gives them the equal right so to speak, to be involved materially in his kingdom. The greatest abuse of women and girls can be found in cultures that are neither Jewish nor Christian. God thinks the mother counts as much as the father in the family line. But I digress.

Thousands of years of Jew vs. Muslim fighting began. We in the West paid virtually no attention to it because it did not impact us very much. And Americans as a people have tended to address issues only after they become egregiously bad, so bad in fact that it takes much longer to solve them.

Islam vs. Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President, sent the Marines to Tripoli to deal with the Muslims.  Spain had to throw them out, as is happening now in Europe.  They have bombed and fought their way west having been told by their religious leaders that they are going to rule the whole world for Islam, by hook or crook.

Islam is a theocracy

Their religious book, the Koran, tells them it is acceptable to kill Christians (infidels) or in fact anyone else who disagrees with them.  Those are the simple facts and have nothing to do with my opinion or yours. Out of this lie has come forth all the evils we see in our headlines – beheadings, killing babies, stoning to death women who wear makeup or drive a car, in what is a complete disregard for the value of life. Life means nothing in the face of theological doctrine.

The Political Spirit

The international elevation of Islam as a violent political system which drives and feeds on evil is the natural child of a massive lie.  Truth begets truth; lies beget lies in increasing number.  If you have ever lied you know how hard it is to keep up with them; it takes more lying to do so.  It’s exhausting. We have no reason to believe any of this will change in modern life.

It is true that large numbers of Muslims have become Christians.  JewsNews on Facebook informs us of a continued stream of Muslims becoming Jews. Apparently the violence and the complete breakdown of life in the Middle East has prompted these changes.

Most people do not want to die, or see their homes, families and all they have worked for destroyed.  This has not happened as much in the USA where we have a more structured civil society.  But many Muslims still want and believe in a governmental takeover, so we must not assume they are willing to play by our Constitutional rules when they come here.  The root of the system is still a lie, and until that lie is broken the problem will continue.

Modern Muslims have added two principles which make things even worse. (1) Taqqiya: Islamists interpret their scripture to say that they are allowed to lie about the nature of Islam in order to further their political goals.  (2) Abrogation allows Muslims to ignore a previous Koranic passage in favor of a newer, better one. This negates all verses that were written before the abrogation.  It also means you as an outsider have no way of knowing what the rule actually is.  So laws can be made up on the spot.

This kind of behavior allows middle aged men to “marry” girls of 5 and 6 years for a short period of time, and then un-marry them.  The results are pure wickedness, as often these children die from the sexual experience. If Sharia Law becomes standard anywhere in the USA you can be sure lawlessness will ensue.  Thanks to abrogation, it can change without notice and you are all of a sudden guilty.

Stark Contrasts help us to rethink

Now we are at the bottom of this business. If we in America had not been required to face this culture of death and its worldview we might not be able to understand ourselves and America’s role in the world.  Islam has rejected the Law of God both as it applies to Jews and more importantly as it applies to all men.

People as Things

If you do not believe that God created the heavens and the earth, and therefore all other humans, then what is a tiny child?  She is a “thing.”  This is called the reification of persons, making a human being a thing.  When that happens, the sky for evil is the limit. And sex trafficking is an example of the depths of depravity to which mankind can descend. https://www.theepochtimes.com/why-is-it-hard-to-bust-human-traffickers_2338465.html

Before we congratulate ourselves on our superior culture let me remind you that countless millions of American babies, mere “things” have been destroyed since 1962 Roe v. Wade.  In addition we have increased drug, alcohol, and porn here at home, an indication people don’t know who they are or what they are doing to God’s creation, their own body.

They think of themselves as things. Marriages break down because husbands think their wives, as things, should perform as things.  If they don’t they are replaced by other things.  Some women even believe this and allow themselves to be abused. Some men have 4 marriages before they figure this out.

Justification of evil

Sex perversion is not an issue to Thing People because the body is simply a short-term asset for a short-life so the consequences of evil behavior  in this life have no impact.  If you get STDs or oral cancer from oral sex, so what?  You were going to die anyway of something.  By the time an adult nurtured on these lies of origin wises up, it is too late to change the consequences of immoral living. The person who believes he is a thing, should he live long enough, may become totally depraved.  Workers in mental institutions will verify this.

Fortunately the demands of modern life are such that people may come to a quicker realization of their predicament.  They may not be able to change their minds completely, but at least they realize that the fruits of that lifestyle are not leading to the pursuit of happiness.

Theology for the lawless

At the root of this malaise is the theory of evolution which negates the principle that God created everything.  Evolution is unproven; but that bothers no one if they want to abandon all morals and do anything they wish.  For the lawless it is a perfect theology.  And it has become the quasi-theology of our age thanks to an ever decaying educational system and the silly notion that ideas don’t count. Evolution allows us to deceive ourselves that there are no consequences for behavior.  If the moral law is invalid then I can do pretty much as I please.  Whatever feels good! We see anarchy everyday now, shootings and marches,  burning buildings, lootings and shoplifting. Some political figures make their living stirring up trouble.

Jesus never asked How do you feel?

We are being ruled by emotions. Unhappy people are routinely asked How do you feel?  Jesus never said that even one time.  He said ” What do you think?”  Thinking precedes action. Feelings are a reaction.  For that I suggest Dr. Phil.  Feelings have no power to break the lie over a life.

How do you break the power of a lie- particularly one so strong that it makes demonic hirelings out of its most violent adherents?

There is no power against the Truth. That is why freedom of speech, religion, and assembly is not the last but the FIRST Amendment of the Constitution. The US Constitution is the set of rules we agree to live by.  Without that we are powerless to preserve our lives.  It means we should not allow others to shut us up. or change the Constitution wily-nily.

Abuse is political, global, theological, universal

Of course it will have repercussions – it always does.  Other people’s lack of understanding should not hamper your behavior.  If you know what you know, then you are free to repeat it.  Churches have also gotten cold feet about the truth, but I notice that many of those are losing members. People have an ear for truth who actually want it, and will not finance fraud.  I think we can expect some denominations to fade entirely.

Abuse is 13,000 years old

PBS featured a film of the oldest skeleton ever discovered in an area of northern Mexico. The 20-odd year old girl showed signs of physical abuse. So the mistreatment of human beings, thinking they are things, goes back to the very origins of mankind. https://www.theyucatantimes.com/2017/09/13000-years-old-ancient-skeleton-found-in-submerged-cave-near-tulum/

One of the major TV news stations reported, to their dismay, that over 70% of American young people believe in Biblical creation. Perhaps they had assumed that the mental conditioning which ignored basic truth had been replaced by the evolutionary thinking of amoral man.   I breathed a sigh of relief.  That is the first helpful prophetic idea I’ve heard in a long time.  When people go back to the Biblical way of thinking there is hope even if they are not sure why.  Thank you God.

The Devil can Write a “Christian” Blog

Print Friendly and PDF
Here on vacation I thought, what a great time to read some theology blogs out there. My writing life focuses totally on what God says; let’s see what man is talking about?

Mis-take! What a colossal disappointment.

But how do you know when you are reading junk theology?

First, does it match the written word, i.e. the Bible.

Not what people say is in the Bible but what the Bible itself says. There are dozens of good, accurate translations of the Bible out there.  And there are plenty of phonies as well.

Here are some examples of stuff the Bible does not say.

  • Sex outside of marriage is OK. 👎

  • You can choose your gender. 👎 Sorry. DNA tells you who you are.
  • Your can murder people and it is OK. 👎 That includes abortion or killing a baby outside the womb. It includes old people that you think are a drag on the community..👎
  • You can tell lies and get away with it. 👎 Sorry God says hekl was for “all” liars.
  • Incest is fine. 👎 I read this on the Internet.
  • Slander and libel have no consequences. 👎 Journalist beware.
  • The Old Testament law is not longer required. 👎 The food laws do not apply now  but yes to the rest.
  • You can go to heaven if you are good enough. 👎 The church that tells you that just wants to you stay, pray, and pay.
  • The devil (Satan) is saved at the end of time. 👎 He wishes!!!
  • Everybody goes to heaven.👎 God loves everybody but he does not accept everybody.

Get your own copy of the Bible or download a free one from the internet and read it yourself. The problem is that there are 32,000+ verses and relevant ones are scattered throughout. Even reading the Bible through five times will not give you every option you need to learn the mind of God. Yes, that is discouraging but still not impossible.
