“Replacement” Theology and the 2 Israels

Print Friendly and PDFBehind everything that is wrong in this world there is a lie lurking in the bushes of belief.

“Supersessionism (also called fulfillment theology and replacement theology) is the belief that the Christian Church supersedes or replaces the Israelites in God’s plan, and that the New Covenant nullifies the biblical promises made to the children of Israel, including the “Abrahamic Covenant, the Land Covenant, and the Davidic Covenant” according to Wikipedia.

For many years, as the Jews were scattered over the face of the planet, one could almost believe that, esp. if they ignored the writings in the Old Testament.

God’s word on this, and on all matters regarding His Word, is in stone.

The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8

2 Corinthians 1:20 [Full Chapter]
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! Galatians 3:21

2 Peter 1:4 (God has) given to us exceedingly great and precious promises,

No wonder the first thing we are told as believers is to study the Bible!

All the promises of God are for all time, all the promises to Israel, to Christians and to the wicked, including wicked nations. Period. Have you ever wondered why Muslim nations have little other than money, and even their oil is running out? They curse Israel and the curse of God (Genesis 12:3) rests on them.

There are over 32,000 Bible verses and they stand forever. There are promises to a natural people, The Jews, and another set of promises for the spiritual people, the Christians. The Jews have a homeland, Israel, and the Christians have a home in heaven. Jews occupy their land; we are ambassadors for Christ while on earth, and are merely sojourners on earth.

When in 1948 the Jewish homeland reappeared after a 2,000 year hiatus (the Palestinians never did have a home land there, although they’d like to think so) any belief in replacement theology should have disappeared. In an almost magical fashion, the nation was preserved during impossible attacks from the 600,000 Muslims surrounding this tiny country the size of New Jersey. Since that time the restoration of this nation is an economic miracle.

Military men do not study the wildly successful history of Jewish military success because there are too many miracles associated with them. There is a set of videos on this topic available from Amazon called “Against All Odds.”

God gave the land of Israel with its capital Jerusalem to the Jews; He gave new Israel (the Christians) the new city of Jerusalem in heaven. On earth Christians are travelers or sojourners with no particular landed home.

There is a Biblical penalty for believing in replacement theology or anything that takes away God’s promises. It’s called a curse as God told Abraham:

Genesis 12:3
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

You cannot be more plain than that! {for curses see Deuteronomy 28}

Islam believes it is they who replace the Israelites. They have plans to defeat Israel and re-name it Ishmael. They have no entitlement to the land, and neither do the Palestinians who have never had a ruler in that land. Most of them were nomads from Jordan. Jordan is a nice country; maybe they could return.

And for related material see my blog, Why Muslims think they are entitled to the land of Israel, which is one of the top three of my posts.

Why does Islam (the Muslims) think they are entitled to the land of Israel?
