There are heresies and then there are “damnable heresies.” Heresy means “to choose what you believe.” God has chosen what we are to believe and to make it simple He also supervised the writing of a book, The Holy Bible, available in almost every spoken language. When in doubt, check the book.
Most heresies will not send you to hell. And more importantly even some things people think are required are also not a problem, like food laws, required festivals, and recognition of certain days, including Sabbath-keeping. All these are external.
A. Damnable Heresies
1. Any belief that places the death of something other than Jesus as a sacrifice for sin
2. Ultimate reconciliation – eventually even the devil and his angels are saved.
3. Annihilation Theories – when you die you cease to exist in any form.
4. Reincarnation – you are born again as another person or being.
5. Belief in any theory that makes Jesus not really God at any point in his life or death
6. Belief in any theory that does not recognize the blood of Jesus as the agent to cover sin
7. Belief in any theory that does not require repentance and confession of faith.
8. Committing the unpardonable sin – rejecting the person of Christ
9. Belief in any theory that puts Jesus as an equal to other gods, including Allah, Buddha, etc.
10. Any religious system which denies in practice the existence of sin, since the personal recognition of personal sin is a requirement for salvation.
11. One religious group says you must be married to be saved and if you divorce you end up in hell. Besides being ridiculous and not scriptural, it is also laughable as anyone who has ever been married knows.
12. Rapture theories are divisive and since no one can prove his position at the present time adherence to any one interpretation is not a litmus test for salvation.
B. Non Damnable heresies, nonsense theories
1. Any theory which claims you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to be saved, or water baptism or any process that requires additional performance.
2. Jesus paid the price for all sins of all men if they accept his sacrifice for their own sins – murder abortion, witchcraft, adultery, theft and sex sins and, most importantly if they also repent. Mere confession is not adequate. I have heard many a person weep over their sins but, it was for public show and the heart was not right. “With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and confession is made unto salvation.”
3. Belief in only part of the Bible – Many people believe the Bible in part. While this does not keep you out of heaven it proportionally reduces your blessings in this life and in the next.
4. Hyper-grace theories say that once you are saved any additional sin is automatically forgiven. This is wishful thinking and makes the grace of God something of a joke.
5. Amulets, relics and other religious items have no effect on one’s salvation but relying on them can keep you from learning the truth and may become an idol.
6. Reading alternate religious books, such as the Da Vinci Code, may not damn you but they are confusing and enforce the “traditions of men” which Jesus condemned.
Given men’s ability to concoct lies, there may be other heresies I’ve missed, but this is a start.

Written eleven years ago, this description of what God’s plans for Iran and the Middle East still stands true. God is outside time, and His words remain to be fulfilled. Some of them take thousands of years. Today, 2019-2020 the Middle East is still in the cross hairs. December 6, 2019 Uprising in Iran
The purpose of divine prophecy is to prepare us so we are not surprised or moved by international wars and rumors of wars. Jesus said “watch and pray.” The Bible was written for all men, not just Jews and Christians. Be ready.
THE PROPHECY OF EZEKIEL 38 By PAT ROBERTSON
Friends, you might like to know what the Bible has to say about Israel in the last days. Here’s what the Book of Ezekiel tells us in the thirty-eighth chapter:
Ezekiel 38:1-9 (NASB) And the word of the LORD came to me saying, “Son of man, set your face toward Gog of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him and say, ‘Thus says the Lord
GOD, “Behold, I am against you, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal.
I will turn you about and put hooks into your jaws, and I will bring you out, and all your army, horses and horsemen, all of them splendidly attired, a great company with buckler and shield, all of them wielding swords; Persia, Ethiopia and Put with them, all of them with shield and helmet; Gomer with all its troops; Beth-togarmah from the remote parts of the north with all its troops—many peoples with you. Be prepared, and prepare yourself, you and all your companies that are assembled about you, and be a guard for them.
After many days you will be summoned; in the latter years you will come into the land that is restored from the sword, whose inhabitants have been gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which had been a continual waste; but its people were brought out from the nations, and they are living securely, all of them. You will go up, you will come like a storm; you will be like a cloud covering the land, you and all your troops, and many peoples with you.” ’ ”
This is the prophecy of Ezekiel, that in the latter days a coalition of nations is going to come against Israel. Let’s look at a map of the region, and find out what nations are included in Ezekiel’s prophecy. Israel is in the center. The Bible refers to Israel as the “navel of the earth.” Surrounding Israel are the other nations mentioned in Ezekiel:
There is Put – which is modern day Libya. Ethiopia, more correctly translated Cush, or what we know as modern day Sudan. Gomer is the Caucasian area of Eastern Europe. Beth-togarmah which may be Turkey. Gog and Magog, comprised of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kurdistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and others.
Meshech, which is now the Russian Federation. Rosh means “head”, and is apparently Russia. Persia, which is modern day Iran. And what do these nations have in common? Most are Islamic states. Iran, Libya, Sudan, the “stan” countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kurdistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey – all Islamic states and many are breeding grounds for radical Islamic terrorism. Iran has publicly declared its desire to see Israel annihilated. Iran would have to cross Iraq and perhaps come down through Syria on its way to the border of Israel. Just as Ezekiel has prophesied, these nations will gather together against the chosen people of God.
Ezekiel has painted a picture of modern day Israel as well. The prophet describes in the latter days, Israel will be gathered together from many nations. Israel will rebuild the nation that was desolate and will desire to live in peace in the land. That’s when this armada of essentially Muslim nations will be joined together with Russia to invade Israel. Now, here is a remarkable thing. Ezekiel says this group of nations will not include Egypt, or Jordan. It will not include Saudi Arabia or Yemen.
Isn’t it amazing that in an unprecedented move in 2006, members of the Arab League of nations, for the first time have denounced another Muslim group for provoking and attacking Israel? Who are these nations that have broken allegiance with this radical Muslim attack? None other than Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Together, they are condemning Hezbollah. In fact, they are hoping Israel is successful in diminishing this powerful terrorist organization along with its sponsors, Syria and Iran. Iran has become too powerful in the region.
The idea of an Iran, armed with nuclear weapons, is a threat to Arab nations as well as Israel. This is the situation described by the prophet Ezekiel. You ought to read your Bibles, Ezekiel 38. Can this be a prelude to that? We’re not sure, but it could be. As we begin to see the line-up of nations conforming to the prophecies of the Bible, we can be very sure of the outcome: God has promised that He will destroy the enemies of Israel and bring glory to Himself.

My non-scientific estimate of the percentage of people who have no idea what a missionary does? Maybe 95%, +or- 3%. Missionaries are change agents, and we know that human beings are resistant to change. If we tell them that up front, we’d never get a single convert, so we begin with the culture.
Liturgical Religion is not a mission goal
Most religions are liturgical; even those churches which are informal have a standard practice in public meetings. The gathering together of like-minded people forms the whole basis of society – all societies – around location (geographical), religions- most of the original societies relied on a powerful god-person, or a soldier-leader who ruled by force, or most frequently by families, almost always language families.
This is not high-sociology, just an observation. It is the link that Islam has with itself all over the world, a world mission to rule through Sharia law and a ruling class tolerating no other.
Christianity, based on Judaism follows much the same path, except that the God is not Allah but a person who identified Himself as “I Am.” Originally God set standards for his people – a set of rules and a common master, God Himself. But the manner in which this religion is lived is based largely on local culture. The Eskimos (Inuits) gather around a fire, Catholics gather in formal grand churches, some African groups gather at the river with no formal structures in sight. Today there are large churches which meet only on the internet.
Culture is the Contest for Understanding
Within the context of culture missionaries examine the situation and pray for guidance on how God may be understood and known. In China, for example, all the assumptions about western religion are false such as the notion that Christianity is for white people – an Anglo-God so to speak, based largely on English-speaking standards since most of the missionaries to China came from that part of the world.
The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is originally identified with the Semitic Peoples of the Middle East. Jesus, because he died for the whole world, does not and has not limited himself to one cultural standard. You find Menorah and 7 branch candlesticks (they are not identical) in Messianic churches, but only occasionally in other buildings. Some churches have dancing, and music – others not. Some have communion every Sunday, many only as the minister feels moved to do so, others once a month. That is because Jesus wants us recognize His world-wide persona.
2 Corinthians 5:16 (CJB) So from now on, we do not look at anyone from a worldly viewpoint. Even if we once regarded the Messiah from a worldly viewpoint, we do so no longer.
Learning out about God starts with a small group
Knowing Jesus Christ only through one’s individual congregation is referred to in scripture as knowing Jesus “after the flesh” a term from the King James version. But later on, it is a sign of spiritual maturity to leave behind the notion of denominational practices that are limited to local churches. When this does not happen churches become repositories for the children of the original members who may or may not be believers, having never been presented the same powerful gospel their fathers and mothers heard. These churches waste away. Today 30% of Christians do not go to church, disinterested and unchallenged, depending unfortunately on TV which may not move them forward.
Missionaries must first understand the people they are reaching
The missionary is first a Watchman on the Wall – see Ezekiel. This person or persons spy out the land for a shred of concern for eternal things. Occasionally there is a zealot (like Paul) who is already motivated and one needs to get him moving in a better direction. There may be desperately dissatisfied and unhappy people who do not appreciate what is happening around them. They can make good converts too.
The least available are those who are self-satisfied or content with the status quo. Ronald Reagan defined the status quo as “the mess we are in,” sand many people are too inert to change.
Reality is the ultimate goal of religious training
The church is ultimately about reality – or looking at life through God’s eyes, using the Bible and the testimony of believers. It will always meet head-on culture and use it for its advantage to introduce Jesus as a person. You know girls who grow up thinking marriage will solve all their problems. Men may think, if i can only find a girl. God has a mate for you, and He’ll do a better job of finding one for you.
Jesus is not a movement, an idea, a system or a benevolent dictator; he is a person separate from the cultural assumptions which cloud people’s minds. Since repentance is about “changing one’s mind” the missionary must start there. Of course there is opposition.
For those who believe that unbelief is a valid position I can only say you cannot prove a negative. It is futile. If you must hold on to your position you must do it by faith – that is you must say “I have faith that God does not exist.” This is the same group that says a falling tree does not make noise in the forest simply because no one hears it. That defines the humanist’s position on reality. No human need be present in order to verify or negate what is happening.
The universe has both absolutes and truths
However, what is real is real regardless of who knows, sees, hears, or understands. In fact, the whole notion of immutable standards needs resuscitation so people can deal with the real world; all else is illusion. Reality cannot be defined by what you think; that is the best definition of neurosis: ” my notion of what reality is, makes it real.” These people are not dangerous (usually) just dysfunctional.***
We do not need to push the demonic on people for them to get a whiff of evil; we must show them that evil does not go away simply because we wish it would. God allows evil to remain as part of our training. An athlete repeats over and over certain moves until, when he is under extreme pressure from a contender, he makes exactly the right moves to win.
After the missionary has done his job, he moves on and leaves the congregation to a pastor or a group of leaders. There are new fields to plow.
*** I had a friend years ago who was neurotic. She had three marriages but she honestly believed that all previous marriages did not exist and that her third husband was the true father of the two sets of children from her previous two marriages. You can call this nuts if you wish, but it is a good example of neurotic behavior.
This information is the work of Joseph Farah originally published 10/28/2014 but since it is the Bible the words stand forever as the principle behind immigration and the issue of homelessness of peoples and their migration.
“Thou shall neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.” – Exodus 22:21
It’s always good when people consider the moral implications of public policy. So the Bible is a good place to start exploring the right and wrong of immigration laws. But seizing on one or two out-of-context verses in the Bible does not make for the kind of comprehensive moral case you would expect of those urging “comprehensive immigration reform.”
The Bible actually has a lot of say about national borders, foreigners, citizenship and the law.
For starters, I challenge anyone to check an exhaustive online or offline concordance for the word “border” or “borders” to get an appreciation of how many times God’s Word references these terms. While not all of them are relevant to our discussion, I count 169 references, most of them making the point that God really cares about them. Is that surprising? He cares about boundaries between nations. In fact, it is God Himself who invented nation-states back in Genesis 11.
Why did He do it?
It seems He scattered the world’s population and created the diverse languages in an effort to subvert man’s efforts to unite in a global kingdom under a false universal religion. Keep in mind, this took place before God created the nation of Israel.
Interestingly, one of the prime motivations of those behind the promotion of borderless societies is this very same notion of regional government and global government and the breakdown of nationalism.
What was wrong at the time of the Tower of Babel remains wrong today. That should be clear to anyone and everyone whose standard of morality is the Bible.
Remember the Tower of Babel story? It seems there was a man named Nimrod who attempted to set up the first world government and the first false religion.
After the Flood, God decreed that man should scatter across the whole earth and be fruitful and multiply. But, about 100 years later, a large contingent of men, under the leadership of Nimrod, whose very name means “let us revolt or rebel,” decided they would settle in Shinar and build a tower to make a name for themselves.
God foiled this plan by scattering them around the world and creating new languages among the new nations that were thus established.
Make no mistake about it: Nation-states are an invention of the Creator – a deliberately chosen device to serve His purposes.
That’s what we’re told in Acts 17:26-27: That God “hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; That they should seek the Lord.”
The purpose of nation-states seems to be to restrain Satan’s efforts at creating his kingdom on earth. That will happen eventually – only when God Himself permits it in His timing, as shown in Revelation 17:17: “For God hath put in their hearts to fulfill his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.” But nation-states serve another purpose as well – to be God’s instruments on earth for meting out justice and providing protection for the people (Deuteronomy 17:14-17).
Ultimately, the political debate about borders and illegal immigration is a debate about national sovereignty. You have heard it said that if we don’t have borders, we don’t have countries. It’s really true – especially when two countries very different from one another in language, culture and economy share a 2,000-mile border as do Mexico and the U.S. But, as the Bible shows, it’s not just a political issue, it’s a moral issue – it’s an issue, ultimately, of right and wrong.
But, first, what about those selective biblical citations used by apologists for illegal immigration?
There’s much more to consider.
I have prepared two previous “Bible study” commentaries on this topic for those who want the complete picture:
Countless Bible studies have been conducted in America in recent years using some familiar citations about “strangers” and “aliens” and applying them to our current controversy. Let’s take a look at those – in context.
There are many more like Exodus 22:21.
- Leviticus 19:33-34: “And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.”
- Exodus 23:9: “Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.”
- Deuteronomy 10:19: “Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.”
Some churches and synagogues have stopped right there after reading that last verse and decided they know all they need to know about their duty as Christians and Jews to illegal aliens.
“We’re supposed to treat them just like one born among us, according to the Bible,” they proclaim. “That means amnesty. It means all the benefits of citizenship.”
But is that true? Is that what the Bible is actually teaching – or is there some nuance that is being lost in the translation?
You can develop some really bad theology – not to mention politics and morality – by reading the Bible out of context, by not fully understanding what is being said to whom and about whom.
Strangers that sojourn with you or live with you do not equate with illegal aliens. In fact, the corollary here, in each and every case, is that the children of Israel were “strangers” in Egypt. That’s why they were to treat their own “strangers” well, because they knew what it is like to be “strangers” in a foreign land.
Clearly, then, what it means to be a “stranger” is to be a foreigner. In the case of the children of Israel in Egypt, they were invited and, at first anyway, were honored guests. Later, they would be oppressed by a generation who “knew not Joseph.” But they were certainly not trespassers. They were certainly not in Egypt illegally. They were certainly not breaking the laws of the land by being in Egypt. In fact, they were commanded not to offend their hosts in any way (Genesis 46:28-34).
So, we must conclude that “stranger” does not equal “illegal alien.” Even when the term “alien” is used in the Bible, it seems to have the exact same meaning as “stranger.”
God loves the stranger, we’re told. You should, too. They should be treated with respect and dignity. They should not be mistreated. That’s the clear message of the Bible – treat law-abiding foreigners and aliens with love and compassion.
But the aliens and strangers of the Bible were expected to obey the Hebrew laws, though they were exempt from some. They were also treated differently than the children of Israel in that they could not own property; they could be bought as slaves and charged interest on loans.
Only if these aliens and strangers were fully converted to the covenant could they be landowners, partake of the Passover and be fully integrated into the nation of Israel.
In other words, even though the aliens and strangers of the Bible were not illegal aliens, they were still expected to fully assimilate into the Hebrew religion and culture before they could receive all the blessings and all the responsibility of full citizenship.
Is there a moral lesson for us to learn right there? You bet there is.
Further, keep in mind these godly instructions were meant not just for the governing authorities in Israel – the judges and kings – but, more importantly, for the people. These were personal instructions. And they are clearly good instructions for us all today.
If we want to be compassionate to the strangers and aliens of our world today, those law-abiding foreigners who desperately want to come to America and are patiently awaiting their turn, we need to be certain they don’t get squeezed out unfairly by those who break the law and push ahead of them in line. And we should expect them to fully assimilate into our national culture.
We shouldn’t be mean to those lawbreakers, either. We shouldn’t mistreat them. We should even forgive them. But they have to leave.
They haven’t been invited. They are not our guests. They are not just strangers; they are trespassers. They are victimizing others through their presence – namely American citizens and foreigners who are trying to immigrate to the U.S. legally. They need to go back home and get in line like others waiting to enter our country lawfully. They need to follow the rules.
Let me conclude with one last relevant verse – Deuteronomy 27:17: “Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.”

Depression is a staple at the holidays – too much food and drink, too many people, the horrors of air travel, traffic, high prices, over spending money and then disappointment over who and what happens. The gift we did not get. The family member who died or was not there for the first time. The unexpected sickness or accident.
Depression is always about looking at the past. The cure is a future oriented, hope filled view of life. The Bible says, a merry heart does good like a medicine. Check out the fun, positive folks you know. They’ll live longer. Make them your friends. Make hope your friend. You can’t take a pill for this as it is only a matter of taking control of what you think.
Why did God show Moses only His back?
The late Kim Clement pointed this out and the reason is terrific. Here God is speaking to Moses. Exodus 33:23 and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”
By standing behind God, Moses only looks into the future.
God does not want us looking at the past
Those who live in the past are depressed and unhappy; they try to make the present either fit the past or correct it. They are often unable to believe new ideas or correct old ones. It is a futile existence. Can’t be done.
Future-oriented people have hope which generates faith in them and others. The Just (person) live by faith and without faith it is impossible to please God. If God isn’t pleased, you won’t be either.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
The quotation “the just live by faith” appears seven times in scripture. And seven is symbolically the number of maturity, therefore words to live by.
Prophets of doom
Politics is divided into those who have no hope for the future and those who don’t. Climate Change tells us we are doomed by our own exhalation. Scientists think the loss of bees on the planet means an end to the reproduction of vegetables and other crops. (They have a point.)
Marine biologists worry that we are over-fishing the ocean. Scientists say the oceans are fouled by plastics and killing off important food supplies. Most of the trash is coming from the Pacific Rim nations, not the USA although we’re routinely blamed no matter what is wrong.
Why does crisis sell?
Fear of the future causes people to react and act. Politicians want votes. Sellers of drugs want people to think “sick”and seek a doctor. Colleges tell you that your child will be a home-bound dunce without a college education. Psychologists can tell you every awful habit of the person you should not marry.
Yes, it is a program for exercising control, but it also is a chance for you to mature in the face of information. What we read and hear can either make us stronger or ruin us with fear. We can examine what people say and not let sucked into their systems. Somewhere is the truth but you need to be discretionary. Don’t eliminate information. Be dispassionate and check it out. Just cut out the negative TV – what a bore!
But if you are looking ahead at God, and following Him, you are going to be fine, and let the prophets hawk their wares.

Abrogation means that additional rulings to the law negate or replace previous versions of the law. For example, the speed limit on Route 101 was at one time 65 MPH, but since it is now more heavily traveled, the speed limit is now 45. But who knew?
The problem in religious law is that when the law is changed you may have not heard of the changes. Islam can add a new regulation and you not know it, or perhaps even the old law may now be in force.
In practice Muslims were once peaceable, but with subsequent rulings on Jihad and the command to kill all unconverted people that they call Infidels, foreigners are in danger of death. That includes all of us in America and any non-Muslim nation, such as China.
At one time there were no child marriages for Islamic men, but now it is more common. https://www.theepochtimes.com/top-12-countries-where-girls-are-most-likely-to-be-child-brides_1481095.html
Consequently if you read the Koran you don’t get the full picture; it is full of “old rules.”. There are many other writings which post-date that book. Furthermore, anything Mohammed did is also something believers can imitate. This should help explain why the religion has become increasingly violent.
Christianity and Judaism have established law. What the Law of God says remains in effect. “I am the Lord, I change not” it says in Malachi 3:6. And “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:3
A newspaper story informs us that even Christian ministers report that Islam has the same God as Christians and Jews. Absolutely not so. And if you do not believe it because the Bible says so, at least believe it because the people who murder, rape and kill in Allah’s name never use the name of the Jewish-Christian God. They are two different spirits, two different theologies and two different patterns of life and death. The differences will prove to be important as the Presidential election of 2020 gears up.
If you want a free booklet about Islam call 1-800-700-7000, the 700 Club of the Christian Broadcasting Network. It can be read in about 20 minutes and describes the origins of Islam and why it is so sex and violence oriented.
This is a guest editorial from Ryan Murphy of SMU:
In a study titled “Psychopathy By State,” Ryan Murphy of Southern Methodist University concluded that the level of psychopathy is far higher in the District of Criminals than in any other state. What is the surprise?
Psychopathy is Greek for “sick soul”
Psychopaths are attracted to power, and power attracts psychopaths. All governments by nature attract greedy and parasitic people. In short, these are people who have the born mentality to live off other people. Many of them belong to secret societies that historically have been at the center of subversive movements. Boy, this is kept mum!
We will call these people humanoids because they are deviants and devious. They have no conscience and no moral scruples. They are no respecter of persons except a feigned glow to extract something. Their every thought is how to make the world flow to themselves. They would rip off their own parents or mate. “Selfish” is a kind word we can use to describe them. To know them…
A caveat here is that most psychopaths don’t know that they are psychopaths. This makes them even more aggressive and sinister. They can kill people en masse for aggrandizement and greed. They hate wealth if it is not theirs. Sound familiar?
So that you can spot them in the future, and never vote for them again, here are the traits of the psychopath, according to Robert D. Hare, criminal psychologist and author of the books, Without Conscience, Snakes in Suits and
The Psychopathy Checklist:
- Possesses a glib and superficial charm.
- Has a grandiose self-worth.
- Has a need for stimulation or proneness to boredom Is cunning and manipulative.
- Lacks remorse or guilt.
- Has a shallow affect (emotional poverty or limited range or depth of feeling, dispassionate and cold-hearted).
- Is callous and lacks empathy.
- Has a parasitic lifestyle.
- Has poor behavioral controls (acts hastily, unable to control temper, easily annoyed, impatient and aggressive).
- Promiscuous sexual behavior. Early behavior problems, delinquency (criminal and/or anti-social behavior prior to age 13, criminal activity between ages 13 and 18).
- Lacks realistic long-term goals.
- Failure to accept responsibility for own actions.
- Many short-term relationships.
If you find me a congressman who sincerely proposes mass repeal of all the terrorist laws and every law connected with human liberty suppression, I will believe in and support this person. I would not be offended by his or her party label if they prove themselves to not be psychotic. Legislative madness comes without a label—wake up!!
You’re on the animal farm. Political propaganda puts us in an altered state of consciousness, otherwise we would know that we are at war, and it is against we the people.
Conclusion – mine. We need to clean up the swamp and not expect President Trump or our governors to do this.

The year was 1944. Americans were exhausted. The losses and the victories of wars on two sides of the planet were stretching us thin. That winter was the coldest in European history, and the hardest for the Allies. We lived in Haddonfield, New Jersey.
I had never seen any road so grand. The White Horse Pike was three lanes wide made of broken, whitish concrete with grass growing liberally in all cracks and between lanes. Vehicles were with our troops in Europe or the Far East and common folk either walked, took a bus or rode a train everywhere. We were lucky. Grandpa had some extra gas coupons and during the war we rarely ever drove a car. Americans just could not afford cars while a war was raging and we saw only a few cars on this road.
Grandpa, being a farm boy at heart, was there to pronounce doom on a turkey for dinner. Turkeys were a North Eastern staple based on pilgrim tradition. No steroid-stuffed mass-produced fowl like today. And Grandma made creamed white onions, sweet potatoes with brown sugar and pecans, dressing with celery and giblets, creamed fresh corn, stewed cranberries from nearby New Jersey bogs, plus pumpkin and mincemeat pies.
The rest of the year we had Spam and grated carrot salad, and once a week maybe a baked chicken. I got the leg. This meal was a real change of diet.
In our small town there were no working age men and very few young women. My parents were off doing war work, my mother taking the train home for an occasional weekend. Those were dark times.
But we were thankful. We could see the end of the war. God had spared us bombs on our homeland. We were a praying people and we knew God had made this possible. The first sign of sin, says Romans, is lack of gratitude. We are missing a lot of that today.
Romans 1:21 although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
Now 75 years later we are digging out of another war – a war against the Constitution, against people of faith, against prosperity, against morality, against anything God ever said. This time we cannot be sure we will win. Most everyone has enough to eat, people have cars, TVs and rights, and sometimes free healthcare. But they lost the greatest things because their nest was so full of toys. They lost the ability to be thankful.
Thanksgiving weekend is not “turkey day,” or football game day, or get out at 3 a.m. to shop at the big box store day; it’s the day we notice that God made all this possible to hard workers, sincere pray-ers and moral believers. And to those who thank him.
Only two nations celebrate a day of giving God Thanks – Canada and the US. And if you’ll notice the statistics, these are two of the most prosperous nations on earth. I doubt if this is a coincidence.
No it can’t be. God hears real prayers from His people and when He does He responds with blessings.
This year, notice that each generation has its wars, its tests, its victories and failures. They come in different packages but they are all for our instruction. Let us be thankful.
Not too long ago people were asking What Would Jesus Do. Sometimes I wonder what the answer would be for ordinary Christians – would it be raising the dead, casting out demons, healing the sick, teaching the Bible, leading around a few disciples? Facing death for who we are and what we do?
Some people actually do that. 10,000 Christians are killed every year for their faith. Many other do preach and teach, hold Bible schools, finance and staff NGOs, non-governmental organizations which do the work of Christ without the religious message at all, like Doctors Without Borders.
But there is an answer here. And Jesus gave it to us in several passages:
Matthew 12:50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. This is a key. We are to do God’s will, not a general sort of will but a specific will. Jesus said that whatever God wanted Him to say, that is what he said. Whatever God wanted him to do, that is what he did.
Can you say that? Is what you are speaking and doing those things God wants you to say and do? And worse yet, what about all the things you say and do that you are pretty sure God does not want you doing?
We are not required to be full time ministers but we are to be able to give an answer for our faith, in public, before witnesses. Yes, it might cost us, but God expects that His people will give Him the honor He is due.
And a major key – forgiveness. So many cultures do not recognize the importance of forgiveness. It is the key to freeing you from your bondage to another person’s sins.
That at the very least is what you can do.

flow that has passed will never pass again.
Franklin Graham was speaking at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville , Florida , when he said America will not come back. He wrote:“The American dream ended on November 6th, 2012. The second term of Barack Obama has been the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest republic in the history of mankind.A coalition of blacks, Latinos, feminists, gays, government workers, union members, environmental extremists, the media, Hollywood , uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell’s America .
You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take zealots, not moderates and shy, not reach-across-the-aisle RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.
People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will probably never again be able to legally comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.
The Cocker spaniel is off the front porch, the pit bull is in the back yard, the American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and the likes of Chicago shyster David Axelrod along with international socialist George Soros have been pulling the strings on their beige puppet and have brought us Act 2 of the New World Order. The curtain will come down but the damage has been done, the story has been told.
Those who come after us will once again have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to white guilt and political correctness..” IN GOD WE TRUST
We say it, we sing it, but it is not what the New Testament said. Luke 2:14 King James Version (KJV) 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
But that is not what the Greek says. It is one of the few places where the King James scholars got it wrong. King Jame was disgusted with the controversy surrounding the word of God. Translations, opinions and options were everywhere. His charge to these scholars was to be as loyal to the original language as possible. Up until that time most people, primarily Roman Catholics were reading the Jerome Bible, translated from the Latin.
Here is the correct translation:
Luke 2:14 “In the highest heaven, glory to God! And on earth, peace among people of good will!”
Evil men get no blessings from God. For that group He says, “Peace, there is no peace for the wicked.” Isaiah 57:21
One of the facts of life is that before human beings die they all have a chance to be on the side of right or wrong. And those who seek peace will find it.
Answer: The same thing that brings everyone down – believing a lie. For leaders it is believing a lie about oneself.
He believed the Aryan (white) race to be superior and based his war plan on that assumption. Seeing all-white England, he fully expected the Aryan message to eventually cause the Brits to bend to his superior will. He even call his book Mein Kampf, German for My Will, or my struggle or fight. Looking back you must wonder how an entire nation could subscribe to the fight of a single person, but they became caught up in someone else’s war and it brought the whole nation down.
Hitler was so convinced that when the Germans had chance to defeat Britain they waffled, and the little boats were able to save the British troops crossing the English Channel at night at the Battle of Dunkirk. He believed this enough to tell his military men to be cautious. Germany could have wiped out England very quickly otherwise. Hitler believed his own theories.
The American Civil War:
Cautious tolerance for slavery was recognized in the US Constitution from the early years of the colonies but tolerated is all it was. Most men realized that slavery had to go; they just didn’t know how to pull it off. Thomas Jefferson, who wrote the Declaration of Independence when he was 25, changed the original words “life, liberty, and property” to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” because he feared that human beings, slaves, would be considered property in perpetuity and the Constitution was intended to be a document for the ages. He was right as it turned out.
States Rights was the Known Grievance
The war that ensued 100 years later brought the South to the table because they believed in “states rights.” The Constitution had been originally signed by all the states with that understanding – the states rule over federal law. The Constitution for the Confederate States included the provision that slaves would as usual be treated as a 3/4 ths of a person. This violated some laws in other states. So the issue of the Cuvilk w=War was not actualloy states rights but slavery. If the Southern states had given slaves the right to be a whole person, and free, the Civil War would not have any moral standing. So the flaw in the war ultimately was the issue of slavery.
While God does recognize states rights, He does not recognize “states wrongs.” It is a violation of divine law to consider any human being less than 100% human. God’s law always trumps man’s laws, in the end, even if we are not cognizant of it at the time.
The Emancipation Proclamation energized the North
The civil war ground on year and wretched year until in 1963 the Emancipation Proclamation document became law, and the slaves were freed. The war then suddenly gained some steam and was won a year and a few months later.
Yankees, that is the Northerners were lukewarm about fighting the war over simple property laws, but when it became a matter of human life, they were more interested in winning. Also some much better Northern generals were given the leadership. The lie the South believed was that their states rights were more important than human rights.
This is one of the most important concepts in the Bible that is almost universally misunderstood because human beings believe life ends when they die, but the Bible says that death is not at the end of life on the planet, but when you enter it as a baby. Life is, in fact. the beginning of the First Death. Hang with me here; this is not easy.
King James had a problem.
The Christians in England were arguing about the correct version of the Bible. Kings don’t like controversy especially about topics where they are not especially informed. He gathered a group of scholars together and using the best Greek, Hebrew and Latin texts translated the King James version still in use today (1604-1611). It is called “authorized” because he authorized its translation.
Is it filled with errors? Not really.
His charge to them was to be as faithful as possible to the texts they had, and not to deviate. This they did. Consequently today there are very few glaring mis-translations of God’s word; in fact, many modern translations have improved the use of language through philological sources.
But one place has been mis-translated by modern versions.
Here is the accurate King James:
Romans 7:24 (KJV) | 24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Here is the inaccurate New King James Version
Romans 7:24 (NKJV) | 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
Let’s look at the Greek original.
ΠΡΟΣ ΡΩΜΑΙΟΥΣ 7:24 SBL Greek New Testament (SBLGNT)
24 ταλαίπωρος ἐγὼ ἄνθρωπος· τίς με ῥύσεται ἐκ
τοῦ σώματος τοῦ θανάτου τούτου;
All five of the most popular Greek versions of the New Testament agree on how this is phrased, including the version I used in seminary the Nestle Text.
Here is the structure of the sentence.
τοῦ: this is the genitive case, both masculine and neuter meaning “of, or belonging to.
σώματος: this neuter word means body, that is a flesh body. It is not to be confused with another word for body, corps, which we use today when we say the Marine Corps, a body of men committed to the same military goals. Or perhaps the word corporation which is a body of workers hired for mutual benefit.
θανάτου: is the masculine word for death
τούτου: this neuter or masculine demonstrative pronoun means “this”
This passage might mean either this body or this death. But why tamper with the original?
The fact that the word “this” appears at the end of the sentence should erase all doubts as to whether it modifies death or body. It is, at that position, a long way from any reference to the body. Position in Greek is important.
Furthermore, in Greek tradition, the flesh was regarded as evil in and of itself. Hebrew teaching does not endorse this; the Hebrews believed the body was good, inasmuch as God had called everything He made good.
Paul was more Hebrew than Greek and he would not have endorsed anything evil in his physical body.
That leaves us with the clear indication that we must investigate what “this death” is. Clearly it does not refer to being dead at the end of one’s life, or specifically Paul’s life. He is asking for deliverance here and now from not his body but “this death.”
Why would so many modern translations jimmy with this text? Apparently because they believe death is an event. It is not.
Death is a place.
When we understand this we can then move on. No one actually dies if they mean a total absence of self. The soul of every man (woman and child) lives on. Where that place of eternal living is, is called either heaven or hell, and that destination depends on the choices one makes in life. You, yes you, were created before the foundation of the earth.
Ephesians 1:4 just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love
Some commentators think this means some are appointed to damnation and others to life. If that is so, and it is not, then the purpose of Christ’s sacrifice is belittled. If men do not have free will, then the whole exercise is pointless.
God had a plan and a place in mind for you, individually. You were born into this place where death reigns.
Romans 5:17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)
If you don’t believe me, look around. Eating a single meal involves something that previously died, be it animal or vegetable. Every human dies eventually. Even the planet is scheduled to die along with the entire universe. (See http://wp.me/p1otAF-lH for an explanation of time and eternity.)
If we recognize that this planet is the place of the First Death then we can comprehend what The Second Death might be.
Revelation 20:14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 2:11 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.”
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Revelation 20:14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 21:8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
So how plain is this?
The Second Death is indeed a place, a lake of fire. A fire that never goes out. And the First Death is right here, right now, the life we all live together on this planet.
What is also clear is that while the body of the First Death has no permanence, ashes to ashes – dust to dust, another “body” must exist in the Second Death. This is the body that feels fire but never burns up. It is an “eternal” body just as those with “eternal” life have a spiritual body which is not destroyed.
If the Church refuses to address politics from the pulpit, guess what happens. Right. The devil says, “Oh Goody. I have many candidates with their damnable ideas lined up ready to take over the government.” And that is exactly what happened.
A list of evil projects
People get nervous when the word evil is used because it implies, no requires, a moral judgment. This is good and that is bad. But some people do not want to be challenged. Other people get huffy when they are offended by the use of the words.
Well that is too bad. Evil is what God sent His son to the planet to defeat both as an individual problem caused by sinful human beings, but also the evil in the systems that the secular world has created.
Here is a list of just a few of the evil projects and programs supported by our taxes and what has been abandoned by honorable people. Click on the underlined bold word to go to the news story.
The Democratic Party passes a resolution condemning Christianity.
Sex perversion taught in a public school.
Legislation to kill the mentally ill. But that could be you if they call Christianity a mental illness.
When Right-to-Life doctors are required to register with the State, that allows bureaucrats to refuse to pay them for medical services. Will they leave the country in order to have freedom of religion, or stay here and be paid for abortions? That is the definition of fascism – using refusal to do business to enforce political goals.
FDA (Federal Drug Administration), this time gender altering drugs which result in death and one more reason to support drug pricing reform.
Drag Queens, your tax dollars at work all in the name of freedom of speech and possibly coming to a library near you.
25 times Congress has voted on ifanticide, legislation to prevent the murder of infants who managed to escape an abortion attempt. You voted for these guys!
Why isn’t your minister preaching against this kind of immoral government? And you can vote them out as well.
