Damnable and Non-Damnable Heresies

Print Friendly and PDF
There are heresies and then there are “damnable heresies.” Heresy means “to choose what you believe.” God has chosen what we are to believe and to make it simple He also supervised the writing of a book, The Holy Bible, available in almost every spoken language. When in doubt, check the book.

Most heresies will not send you to hell. And more importantly even some things people think are required are also not a problem, like food laws, required festivals, and recognition of certain days, including Sabbath-keeping.  All these are external.

A. Damnable Heresies

1. Any belief that places the death of something other than Jesus as a sacrifice for sin
2. Ultimate reconciliation – eventually even the devil and his angels are saved.
3. Annihilation Theories – when you die you cease to exist in any form.
4. Reincarnation – you are born again as another person or being.
5. Belief in any theory that makes Jesus not really God at any point in his life or death
6. Belief in any theory that does not recognize the blood of Jesus as the agent to cover sin
7. Belief in any theory that does not require repentance and confession of faith.
8. Committing the unpardonable sin – rejecting the person of Christ
9. Belief in any theory that puts Jesus as an equal to other gods, including Allah, Buddha, etc.

10. Any religious system which denies in practice the existence of sin, since the personal recognition of personal sin is a requirement for salvation.

11. One religious group says you must be married to be saved and if you divorce you end up in hell.  Besides being ridiculous and not scriptural, it is also laughable as anyone who has ever been married knows.

12. Rapture theories are divisive and since no one can prove his position at the present time adherence to any one interpretation is not a litmus test for salvation.

B. Non Damnable heresies, nonsense theories

1. Any theory which claims you receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit to be saved, or water baptism or any process that requires additional performance.

2. Jesus paid the price for all sins of all men if they accept his sacrifice for their own sins – murder abortion, witchcraft, adultery, theft and sex sins and, most importantly if they also repent.  Mere confession is not adequate.  I have heard many a person weep over their sins but, it was for public show and the heart was not right.  “With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and confession is made unto salvation.”

3. Belief in only part of the Bible – Many people believe the Bible in part. While this does not keep you out of heaven it proportionally reduces your blessings in this life and in the next.

4. Hyper-grace theories say that once you are saved  any additional sin is automatically forgiven.  This is wishful thinking and makes the grace of God something of a joke.

5. Amulets, relics and other religious items have no effect on one’s salvation but relying on them can keep you from learning the truth and may become an idol.

6. Reading alternate religious books, such as the Da Vinci Code, may not damn you but they are confusing and enforce the “traditions of men” which Jesus condemned.

Given men’s ability to concoct lies, there may be other heresies I’ve missed, but this is a start.

How to read through the Bible in a Year without losing heart

Print Friendly and PDF

Print this out an place in your favorite Bible. Decide now that you will get up a half hour before everyone else and get this reading done before you start your day. once you get in the habit you will never give it up.

If you read the Bible through cover to cover, and I’ve done it often, you may get bogged down in Deuteronomy or Leviticus, so I recommend you start with the New King James version, which is the one most often quoted, and I’d read The Message for all the historical books, Chronicles, Kings, and Samuel.

Try to skip around the other books reading those chapters that have come up in discussion or a sermon.

Let’s say your minister speaks on Ben-Hadad.  He is a wicked King of Syria and Syria’s wickedness is at the top of our current news.  You can look up chapters on this man by going to Bible Gateway

If you get up early in the morning to do this, the thoughts you read will filter through your brain during the day and keep your mind off how broke you are.

After you read a chapter check off the number at the chapter heading. If you read 3 chapters each day and 5 on the weekends you should be done in a year. One Psalm each day will take 5 months. Now that doesn’t sound so hard, does it?

Remember 3 chapters a day and 5 on the weekends = 1 year.

“Replacement” Theology and the 2 Israels

Behind everything that is wrong in this world there is a lie lurking in the bushes of belief.

“Supersessionism (also called fulfillment theology and replacement theology) is the belief that the Christian Church supersedes or replaces the Israelites in God’s plan, and that the New Covenant nullifies the biblical promises made to the children of Israel, including the “Abrahamic Covenant, the Land Covenant, and the Davidic Covenant” according to Wikipedia.

For many years, as the Jews were scattered over the face of the planet, one could almost believe that, esp. if they ignored the writings in the Old Testament.

God’s word on this, and on all matters regarding His Word, is in stone.

The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40:8

2 Corinthians 1:20 [Full Chapter]
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! Galatians 3:21

2 Peter 1:4 (God has) given to us exceedingly great and precious promises,

No wonder the first thing we are told as believers is to study the Bible!

All the promises of God are for all time, all the promises to Israel, to Christians and to the wicked, including wicked nations. Period. Have you ever wondered why Muslim nations have little other than money, and even their oil is running out? They curse Israel and the curse of God (Genesis 12:3) rests on them.

There are over 32,000 Bible verses and they stand forever. There are promises to a natural people, The Jews, and another set of promises for the spiritual people, the Christians. The Jews have a homeland, Israel, and the Christians have a home in heaven. Jews occupy their land; we are ambassadors for Christ while on earth, and are merely sojourners on earth.

When in 1948 the Jewish homeland reappeared after a 2,000 year hiatus (the Palestinians never did have a home land there, although they’d like to think so) any belief in replacement theology should have disappeared. In an almost magical fashion, the nation was preserved during impossible attacks from the 600,000 Muslims surrounding this tiny country the size of New Jersey. Since that time the restoration of this nation is an economic miracle.

Military men do not study the wildly successful history of Jewish military success because there are too many miracles associated with them. There is a set of videos on this topic available from Amazon called “Against All Odds.”

God gave the land of Israel with its capital Jerusalem to the Jews; He gave new Israel (the Christians) the new city of Jerusalem in heaven. On earth Christians are travelers or sojourners with no particular landed home.

There is a Biblical penalty for believing in replacement theology or anything that takes away God’s promises. It’s called a curse as God told Abraham:

Genesis 12:3
3 I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

You cannot be more plain than that! {for curses see Deuteronomy 28}

Islam believes it is they who replace the Israelites. They have plans to defeat Israel and re-name it Ishmael. They have no entitlement to the land, and neither do the Palestinians who have never had a ruler in that land. Most of them were nomads from Jordan. Jordan is a nice country; maybe they could return.

And for related material see my blog, Why Muslims think they are entitled to the land of Israel, which is one of the top three of my posts.

Why does Islam (the Muslims) think they are entitled to the land of Israel?

What I Wish I’d Known at 30

Print Friendly and PDF

Everyone eventually acts on principle – principles they may not really recognize in themselves, and often to their own hurt. I have a job no one else has. I sit like an eagle in a high perch and watch the human race.  I see patterns of behavior.

Learn how to think

People on the whole do not know how to think.  They know what they know and how to do what they do but when an emotional turmoil comes, the buggy comes off the rails. One student thought she looked better in pink rather than green and called that thinking. That is an opinion. Opinions may or may not be thought out.

What is out there includes slander, libel, accusations, polls, statistics, bias, emotions, mind control, deception, lies, delusion, bias, unverified information, cultural norms, conspiracy theories, and sales pitches. All demanding we think about them! Learning what your mind must trash is an urgent need.

And  people who hire and fire are unaware of these incipient problems in personnel, nor do they see it in themselves. When the minister runs off with the piano player they are shocked.  They should not be. It is a pattern of dealing with some other problem, not the one they believe it to be.

What principle do we work under

A man recently widowed told my son “Women come out of the woodwork when they know you are single.” Both men and women may think that their problems can be solved by something that does not solve problems. In the case of men, sex, and in the case of women, having a male around, is the answer to their problem. It is not.

No relationship no matter how positive solved any problem. Quite the contrary. Any new relationship in your life, good or bad, complicates things for you. Another solution is drugs or drink. Again, the cure creates a new disease more damaging than the original.

The search for the “new”

Another principle people cling to is the notion that they need a new (1) job (2) President (3) house or location (4) hobby (5) church or religion (drug or medicine) and I could extend this. I’ve know people who believe their problems are caused by Hispanics, or blacks or white people. I’ve worked with people who think the system they work in is flawed, that the debt level of the nation is the problem, that the water supply is contaminated or that there is a conspiracy to ruin the nation, the state, everything.

Please know that there are conspiracies everywhere at every time. The Catholic church wanted to kill Martin Luther but friends helped him escape. Many of England’s kings thought someone was trying to kill them. That went on for several hundred years and was true. No, the papacy is not your enemy. It is called life.

People get snookered by lies, by promises, by bad checks, by slander and libel. The Bible calls this “the daily evil.”

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Life is not an end in itself

Life is the process of preparing for living eternally some place else. Years ago there was a popular song which intoned, “I’m going to live forever.” The lyrics were from “Fame,” a Broadway musical.

You will live forever

Of course you will live forever. It is built into the life you are now living. But where? In China, atheism is the state religion and required if you are a member of the Communist Party.

I was surprised to learn that Chairman Mao, the man who brought communism to China, believed in an afterlife. He bragged about going to a Chinese heaven with Karl Marx and other prominent communist leaders. He talked openly about the Christian heaven for Americans and white people.

When I asked small children what was God’s name they told me immediately, Shang Di, which means the person “Above all,” no different from our American definition.

The belief in an afterlife dominates human kind. But just where will that be? Those are decisions you make here. Blessed is the man who learns that early on.

God’s Ace in the Hole

Print Friendly and PDF

For my foreign readers, an “ace in the hole” is a hidden advantage or resource kept in reserve until needed. The word comes from the game of poker where the Ace of Spades is the highest valued card in the deck.  acespadesin hole

God requires Man to enter heaven based on the law – that is, he must acknowledge his belief in God by faith and through repentance (changing his mind about himself and his condition) and confession of Jesus as Lord he now has access to what evangelists call saved.  But as you might suspect, there are many who seem to slip into heaven by some back door.

God is Himself not under a Law

God is not under Law.  While He has promised to make good on all His word, He also has some private caveats of His own.

God keeps as His prerogative the choice of whom He will bless. The most well-known of these are the Beatitudes in Matthew which list the many ways God blesses.

Jesus  said:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, (this refers to those who know they need spiritual infilling)
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, (the meek means those people who do not exert their will on God)
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
This is God’s ace in the hole.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

God also has special blessings for orphans and widows.

Special blessings  allow God to by pass His laws

In actual fact many of these blessings, plus others throughout the Bible allow God to step in. The Jews realize that God saves some gentiles and refers to them as “righteous Gentiles” i.e. those whom God has approved but who have lived outside His formal law.

A person who ministers mercy to others is one  special category. A passage where this applies can be found in Acts 10 where Cornelius, a man who honored the Jewish God but who was not biologically a Jew, was visited by Peter who brought the baptism in the Holy Spirit to Cornelius and his entire household.

The Baptism is the New Testament sign of being under the covenant of Grace. That is, they were taken into the family of God despite their birth status and they received all that God had for them based on this man’s righteous acts.

BUT, what if Cornelius and his household had lived 100 years previously?

There would be no Peter to take the message, and no crucifixion of Jesus to open up the New Testament and His Church.  Nevertheless, on the basis of mercy God would have accepted Cornelius and his house.  This is why I, as a missionary, did not tell people their relatives were in hell.  I don’t know the mind of God on the subject, and the living, not the dead, are my responsibility in any event.

Why ministers say, “May God have mercy on his soul.”

At the end of many a funeral service the minister intones, “May God have mercy on his soul.”  This is the minister’s way of pulling up this ace.  If this person has not been living right, and the minister may even be a stranger to the dearly departed, he asks God to consider mercy and maybe God will.

But, if you are not walking right, don’t count on it.

Exodus 33:19 And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

So it all boils down to His will.

The Five Worldviews

Print Friendly and PDF

Political philosophy is based on assumptions about the nature of man. I mean here “Man” as generic not as gender/male.

The Western Worldview

Western governments assumed that man is an imperfect being and that he arrives on the planet flawed, and will live out his life doing both good and evil according to his education, genes, and environment. Judeo-Christian theology follows this assumption and Western governments worked on this premise ever since.

Kings, that is power brokers, took over because that is what power does, but after England (and Europe) went through centuries of wretched leaders and their cavortings, the Americans said no more, and devised a government based on this same assumption that man was not only flawed but that he required a government that recognized the flaws in all men and balanced out their lust and ambitions in planning governance, hence the US Constitution.

The Eastern Worldview

Eastern Man believes that humans are born into a system with a set position in the social order. Up until the Communist revolution in China, baby girls were not given names unless they were born into the aristocracy. Common folk named their girls Sister 1, Sister 2, etc. Communist egalitarianism stopped that. Women were now equal. (Aristocratic girls always were equal.) And everyone was part of a social class where they were stuck forever.

Chairman Mao didn’t do a lot of good but that change was smart. He also required a common language instead of the mishmash of dialects, a change which helped China to enter the wider world. Communism in China broke up the rigidity of this social order.

The Communist Worldview

The third political philosophy and view of man was given voice by Karl Marx who regarded everyone as having no spiritual dimension, but only an economic motive for being alive and staying alive. Philosophically this was founded on the Darwinian doctrine of original creation by evolution, a doctrine which is dying a death with the extensive advances in science. Evolution has only been verified as being inside creation not outside of it after 150 years plus.

But at the time it supported the idea that humans had no life after death and were only interested in the comforts of the flesh. And Europe, always being in a state of flux, sopped it up as well as many other nations where rigid leadership kept them in poverty and want. Communism eliminates at least philosophically any moral code which sounds like fun for a while, but eventually anarchy takes over and the dissolution of a society.

So communism was temporarily successful in many areas but because it failed to recognize the spiritual natural of man, has continued to decay as a choice. The visible collapse of communism in Hong Kong, China is a good example. It does not work for the modern world.

The Islamic Worldview

The Middle Eastern nations believe in the evil nature of man but Islam, which has its roots in Judaism, adds to that the doctrine that Islam will take over the entire world. You can see that this theology is not going to work for the balance of the planet. Most nations will fight off any takeover if they have the firepower.

Worldviews in Isolation

Some isolated societies were not touched by these assumptions. The Quechua Indians thought everyone was evil and going to eat them. Groups like this can’t last. They become destroyed by their own fear. Eskimo tribes lived isolated lives in great harmony, but these exceptions were always small.

There are your choices. You’ll notice it is all based on a belief about the nature of man. As long as these worldviews are in conflict we cannot and will not have international peace and harmony. Nations and individuals act and react based on what they believe in their heart of hearts.

The Bible says simply, “The heart of man is evil above all things and desperately wicked.” And this situation is the cause of wars and conflict from the lowest to the highest level of society.

The lesson we can learn from this is to identify our assumptions because the future of our own lives and that of our fellows will be determined by the one we choose.

How to Understand the Bible

Print Friendly and PDF

One scripture does not make a theology

The number one is not a sum; it’s a lone number. Twelve is also a number.  Neither number is a sum.

But 1 and 1 = 2, and 10 and 2 = 12, hence a sum. Simple huh?

Here’s the key. The Bible itself says that the “sum of thy worth is truth.” This is found in the most accurate translation of the Bible, the New American Standard.

Psalm 119:160
The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.

In order for you to get a sum you will need two separate scriptures, and preferably three. When you have two or more scriptures working together you have a theology.

For example, the Bible says that Jesus came to save the whole world, which indeed He did. But that is not a sum. If you believe that alone you might walk away thinking Jesus saves everyone on planet earth.

You also need to know that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. That is called a conditional phrase. It adds a condition which man must meet before he is saved. So the sum of that is that everyone on the planet can be saved if he/she believes and you now have a tenet of theology. It’s a start. Put many tenets together and you get a creed.

Conditions apply to understanding

In fact virtually everything in the Bible has a condition attached to it. And that condition is faith. We must accept what God says by faith and then act upon that faith. Once we do, God confirms His word to us.

John 7:17 If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself.

Believe first then see the results

Here is an example of conditional scriptures. “If you continue in my word you are my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”

I can’t tell you how many people tell me – you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.

Notice they substituted “set” for “make.”  “Set” indicates an event; “make” denotes a process.

Do not substitute your own word

But never mind. The real problem is they forgot the conditional part -IF.

Now you can start reading the whole Bible and not just parts, the parts you like. Watch the exact words exactly. Don’t patch in your own ideas and before long you’ll know what you are talking about.

Here is an example of taking one passage and ignoring another passage on the same point.  The Amish have separated themselves deliberately from the rest of the world. They refuse to use many modern conveniences; their dress and modes of transportation are different from the Americans, that they refer to as “English.”

Here is the passage they site:

Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,

This part of the verse the Amish obey. but the rest of the verse is:

so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.”

And this last half of the verse they ignore.  Obeying God may mean to be an airline pilot, a translator for the United Nations, or a beautician in Hollywood.  The call of God and obedience take precedence over any calls to making personal and corporate holiness more worthy than obedience.

Here is where many of us stumble. Not just the Amish. It is very easy to make things and rules more important than the inner man. God, after all, looks on the heart not on the outside. A heart can be pure, while on the outside a person works for a garbage collection agency. God does not want us focusing on externals. We will do that anyway!

Holiness is the missing element in the majority of Christian living where anything goes. That is not the heart God wants.

Obedience is to the whole word of God, not just the passage we like. If you ever wondered what God’s will is, there it is.

#mandarin #chinese #allemand #espagnol #cantonese #francais

PS “Cleanliness is next to godliness” is not in the Bible and neither is “God helps those who help themselves.” I’ll bet some mother thought that one up.

For Atheists

Print Friendly and PDF

You say God does not exist? Whoopie! I’ve decided taxes don’t exist. I hate paying taxes. If they don’t exist I don’t have to pay!

We’ve only just begun. DNA – that does not exist. Male-female, that does not exist. Old age (I get to live forever) does not exist. Who knows where this can go.

What God calls Abomination?

Print Friendly and PDFYou can find this word in any dictionary but it is used frequently in the scriptures to define something that God hates.  The picture I prefer is this – an abomination is like a filthy, smelly, putrid rag, wet and bloody which you pick up with rubber gloves and, at arm’s length take to a trash can or better yet, an incinerator.  There is Biblical evidence that this is a good definition of the word.  But to what does God refer?  What does He call an abomination?

A List of Abominations

Here are some abominations:

  • homosexuality, (Leviticus 18)
  • shellfish (Leviticus 11 shall be an abomination to humans not to God, including some birds and insects),
  • gold and other precious items associated with false gods, (Deuteronomy 7 which also brings a curse to a family if it is brought into the home),
  • slaughter of children which would include both before and after birth
  • study of false religions in the same chapter
  • such persons who do these things are not permitted inside the community as well.

That means none of these are allowed in heaven.  In fact anyone caught doing this was, in the Old Testament stoned, with stones, not drugs or alcohol.

In Deuteronomy 22 and 23

profits from whores are not allowed in the church treasury.

Proverbs 3:23 calls

perversion an abomination, but it not only applies to perverse actions but also to people who, no matter what God says, go the other way.  Anyway – you can look this stuff up yourself.

Here is a list of spiritual sins that God hates:

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,18 An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

That list must include American television, newspapers and other media which have become unreliable, and deliberately lying and withholding important information.

1 Kings 14 calls

sodomy an abomination, including male prostitution.

Proverbs 17:5 says

those who justify the wicked and condemn the just are an abomination to God.

I see that all the time in politics.  I wonder if these guys are aware of what they are doing?  There is a pay-day for everyone.

What about the vendor who has hidden weights on his scale?  He is under the knife on this too.  Praying to God when there is known evil in your heart is an abomination to God also.  (Proverbs 28:29) If we do not know about our sin we have leeway in God. He is not unfair.

There are many more.  Right now someone is saying – but I am under the New Testament – these abominations do not apply to me!  That is false comfort.

God’s word applies to everyone everywhere

God’s word is settled in heaven, and it applies whenever and wherever it is a reality.  The response is not “oh, this does not apply to me” but the response should be, “Yes, it may apply to me and I’d better be about repenting double quick.”

Forgiveness does not change the past, it covers it

Whatever sin is under the blood is forgiven.  To be forgiven never changes one word of what God said or meant.  In fact, it confirms it.  The Law does not go away – it is just overcome by a higher law.

So that list of abominations could also be a list of what God forgives.  Years ago when I was teaching at a woman’s prison there was an inmate named Betty who knew God and was still rebellious.  I said to her in 1975, partly in jest, “Don’t be caught dead without Jesus.”  A year later she was released and I learned she was shot dead in Charlotte, NC.  I often wondered about her?  Did she make it?

How did Jesus Die for Everyman

Print Friendly and PDF

The scripture is clear.  Jesus paid the price for every man’s sin by the blood shed at his death.   But because of the limitations of life, He could not actually give his life literally for every person.  If that were so He would need to be born, mature and then die for billions upon billions of people, the exact number we do not know.  We do know that the number of souls God created in heaven prior to our birth is huge.  So literal birth-death is physically impossible.

How then could Jesus die for each Man and still die for mankind as a whole?

Salvation by Negotiation

It was done by negotiation.  Consider that you have a large piece of acreage for sale.  No one else is bidding on it.  Satan already has his claws into the property and will not give it up; in fact he has sole custody thanks to egregious mistakes by Adam.  (And lest we congratulate ourselves remember that we would have been just as rebellious as the First Pair.) The human race is both physically and spiritually doomed.

Since Jesus could not be born billions of times, He would have to negotiate the price.  From the foundation of the world Elohim (God in Hebrew) counseled together to select “the agreed upon price.”  The price was high.  The sacrifice would need to be absolutely sinless, the very opposite of the condition of Man, and he would need to be born just as anyone else and go through life reacting to evil in perfect, sinless obedience.  The Old Testament law regarding sacrifices is not a bore if you notice how the priests followed the very process by which a sacrifice was selected.  Jesus fit perfectly.

You can’t hide sin in man

Can you image what a hard test this is? Look at your tot in a high chair, crying “MINE!” at the top of his lungs.  Rebellion is deep in the heart of man, no matter the size.  He is not a bad child; he is merely human.  (Proverbs 22:15) It comes with the territory.

Sin only Through the Father’s Line

The perfect plan required that the savior be born sinless without the taint of human error.  Mary, Jesus’ mother, did not have to be sinless because the  Sin is transferred through the father’s line….. You know, like father, like son. (Genesis 3:17)

The only way a sinless child can be brought forth is if the Father is God Himself, guaranteeing that the DNA of this child is unique in all the universe.  Then the blood also would be sinless.  Satan can’t fake that – ever, which is why the Kingdom of Evil fell apart in despair after realizing it had engineered the salvation of man and its own demise as well. (1 Cor 2:8)

The devil had a giant surprise

From The Message, modern translation: God’s wisdom is something mysterious that goes deep into the interior of his purposes. You don’t find it lying around on the surface. It’s not the latest message, but more like the oldest—what God determined as the way to bring out his best in us, long before we ever arrived on the scene. The experts of our day haven’t a clue about what this eternal plan is. If they had, they wouldn’t have killed the Master of the God-designed life on a cross.

So that is why Jesus can say at the very end, “It is finished.”  The word in Greek is tetelestai, meaning Paid in Full. You too were included in this number.

Are you automatically saved? No.  Nothing that God does for man is automatic. You, the individual, must respond to God at every level of grace. Your life changes when you have a heart change and accept His free gift of eternal life. Today is the day of salvation.

#religion #spirituality #tetelestai #itisfinished

Good Decision Making

Print Friendly and PDFThe key is simple: make your decision ahead if time.

Sounds impossible. How can I know how to decide before I know what is asked? Life is full of opportunities for bad decisions. You can be sure that the devil will send to you the wrong woman or the wrong man to marry. Make up your mind ahead of time that you are not going to be fooled. A potential spouse must meet some standards. Put it down on paper. Remember love can be ginned up quite falsely (called lust) or whatever. The person who thinks through a major decision will end up with a better outcome.thinker-1602201__180

Make up your mind that you won’t compromise with evil before the opportunity comes to you. I was offered a pile of money and endorsements when I ran for the Legislature. I sad “no.” I was nice about it. The offer was generous. This group expected me to follow their corrupt, immoral doctrines when I was in the Legislature. I said no ahead of time. I did not win the election but I was nobody’s “yes” woman either. The only lobby you have to answer to is the God Lobby; God is more than competent to tell you how to vote.

If you know ahead of time what you believe and why decisions are easier (more…)

The Long Range Cure for Stress

Print Friendly and PDFAmericans are in tragic need of a de-stress.  Eight long years part-time employment, income, jobs, high oil prices, ever-increasing food costs, failed plans and both national and international terror threats put us all on edge. Now that everyone is back at work, we are overworking to compensate for lost time.

The Bible has an app for that

It is called “keeping the Sabbath holy.” rabbi-295112__340  But how many of us take one day a week to flat line our lives?  Not many. It is important enough to be in the 10 Commandments along with not committing adultery and theft.  It’s a day of rest where the mind, body and spirit close the door on daily life and “does something else.”

It is not as legalists would have us believe a time to be sanctimonious and pretend to be holy.  Being part-holy is work enough. Even the non-religious world is beginning to catch on to that.

High Schoolers reduced crime and stress with a Time Out

One high school in the USA has two breaks a day – 15 minutes each, morning and afternoon.  Instead of depriving kids of instructional time, they learned that conflicts, fights, and tardiness all decreased and grades went up.  If there is anyone in this world who is on edge it’s the teens. But can we do it?  Will we do it?  More importantly do we know why we must do it?

Trying to trap Jesus with a question

When Jesus was asked about this issue He said, “Sabbath-keeping is not God’s issue, but man’s.”  From the original:

Mark 2:27 (ERV) Then Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The Sabbath day was made to help people. People were not made to be ruled by the Sabbath.

God has no need of a giant rest – man does so He created the Sabbath for man’s benefit.  If it is such a valuable  benefit why are we not doing it?  And what will it take for us to restructure our lives to make things better?

Any day can be a sabbath

In the first place, it does not need to be Sunday.  Many people work weekends, esp. ministers and they take Monday off which usually is the preferred day for golf anyway.  Keeping the 7th day (or at least one out of 7) holy does not mean you are to spend your entire time in prayer.  Legalistic believers might think that, but if you know any Jews, you know they celebrate after service with a giant meal and spend the time chatting, no work, no study, only the farm animals get milked and foddered, and if your ox fell in a ditch you are to get it out. (And if your car breaks down, yes, get it fixed.)

In other words, it is not a matter of what you do, but what you don’t do.

You don’t figure out your taxes, you don’t visit people you can’t stand, you don’t undertake a business venture or a 2nd job, or file paperwork for a new house, or hire an employee, or workout if you hate exercise.  It is your day to be you and to let other people be themselves too.  No extra stuff on the kids, no heated arguments over politics or which bill to pay this week.

An end to all activity is not the point

Babies need feeding and diapering, but other than that, take that long bath and let someone else play with them.  My grandpa played cards with me on Sunday, and he never went to church.  His mother took him 4 times a week and he calculated that he’d therefore been enough times to suffice for an entire life of Sundays, but I never saw him do evil to anyone, or cheat, or lie, or sneak off with another woman.

There are times when our time is not our own

Grandpa did work 364 days a year during World War 2 as Labor Relations Manager for a ship building corporation.  War is different.  You have to fight it no matter when it occurs. In North Texas 5,000 people attend one church on Saturday afternoon and then all day Sunday they eat together. The oldest member of one Sabbath-keeping family I know is 88 and she looks 65!

Health is a reward for a day off

The results of being obedient to God have all kinds of benefits. Most benefits are unseen. Instead of saddling yourself with yet another New Year’s resolution you will probably drop soon enough, why not take this idea on – one day a week for total rest. Select February as it has only 28 days and see if you don’t notice a change.

Do it as an Experiment

Select a period of time and decide on a day when you will totally chill.  Do this for at least one month. Make notes about your ability to solve problems during that time.  Usually people who live more productive lives will tell you they take more time being calm.  Quakers, for example, who practice silence as a religious rite, are known everywhere as more prosperous financially. Keep notes on what you are doing; no one has a perfect memory. And when you are done tell someone else.

You can give yourself positive reinforcement even if no one else does. If you ever said I can’t take a day off, rethink that.  If you are not getting what you need out of life, somehow you must make life work for you.

Let’s Start Rethinking about Political Campaigns

Print Friendly and PDF

Years ago God gave me a task – show people how to rethink, in my case, about the Bible, its contents and especially the nature and goals of God himself. I’ve done that now ten years. Today, 9/2019, I am reaching over 30,000 people a month, always rethinking in every question especially in secular ones where there is just as much confusion as in theological.

People do not know how to think

Here is an example. Recently we voted in a nationally recognized, wildly expensive campaign for Congress, the 9th Congressional District of North Carolina. The campaign was carried out in public, on television, mostly ads and news stories that were often very biased, no matter who was speaking. Social media was awash with it as well since it was a special election and few others running at least locally.

Bad law comes out of emotion

The campaign was designed to prevent the voter from thinking, or to replace his thoughts with emotions upon which no decisions are usually very good – and certainly not in politics. There are already too many laws based on temporary emotions which can change over night.

The Democrat was a typical Republican candidate – a successful entrepreneur, a business owner/employer, clean cut family man with a pretty blonde wife and two kids, a military veteran who supports lower taxes, and who managed never to call his opponent names which is sign of a honorable politician. But he lost.

Why? Here is the problem to rethink. While he was the better candidate which his campaign demonstrated, he was not running for the office of campaigner; he was running for a seat in Congress. The voters did not want a Democrat representing them, no matter how clean cut or conservative in nature. The national party at the present time does not reflect the mind of the voters in this jurisdiction. Sometime in the future, that may change. But just not today.

The voters got it right

The voters knew this and acted accordingly. But the campaign process ignores this need. The voters got it right in spite of the advertising and blather all around the campaign, not to mention the multi-millions in funds which came from across the land, all intent on electing a Campaigner not a Congressman.

We choose representatives not candidates

There is something very wrong with a political system that presents candidates when what we want is representatives. The man who won will reflect the mind of the voter when he goes to Washington DC, no matter how flawed he might be personally. He was not young and vigorous; he did have a pretty wife but who cares about the wife anyway. We are not voting for her. And she is not representing us. This man’s policies, and that of the people he will join with in Washington, not his personality or all the beautiful color photographs mean anything as he assumes his post.

What we vote for must be based on reality

What the voter needs is the assurance that the person holding the office will be able to reflect the will of the people, not the platform of a party or a group of lobbyists somewhere, in this case, 500 miles away. How can we change the campaign process to make it radically less expensive and more in tune with what voters needs to know? Will this man or woman do in the office they hold what I expect of them and what they have promised? This is going to be a hard issue to solve.

Church campaigns have the same flaws

And as a theologian I can also say that church membership presentations are also often off point. Who God is and what he does as Jesus Christ in the world today is the core of Christianity but you would not necessarily know this from church services or their advertisements or television programs. Thankfully there are many varieties of them reaching diverse people. This is healthy.

We choose our religion based on personal needs

Individuals attach themselves to religious systems based on private needs. Some want family, friends and social acceptance; others seek inner peace and assurance. Others are concerned with the world and its dysfunctions and they view the church in its mission. My daughter-in-law wants a choir, with robes. I agree with her but so many of the modern churches do not have this anymore. Singles need church dinners and fellowship events. People in wheel chairs need to see no curbs or stairs; parents want good child care with honest teaching about the gospel and no Easter Rabbit theology where God is missing altogether.

The truth is offensive

Churches may meet all of these needs but still have no honest gospel to present, filled with compromise in order “not to offend anyone.” The gospel is offensive. Jesus said, Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Is Jesus picking a fight? Sounds like it.

But no, He is saying that we are happy when we are with people where we feel comfortable but the truth of God is ultimately in what God said in His word about our condition and his solutions. Confusing Church with Faith can lead us into a position of comfort that is not realistic. Real faith will cause us to be separated from some people, systems and places.

God is pro-active about us. We need to be proactive about Him. We need to be as careful about our vote for religion as we are for our representatives.

Einstein, String Theory, Quantum Physics and God

Print Friendly and PDFIn the past 100 years because of questions asked and answered by physicists, the nature of reality has changed both in theory and in practice. The simple notions we have of life on earth do not work well in the outer reaches of space.

The universe is really quite small

It is almost impossible to think of this enormous universe as being confined in a small space, but it is. Where there is time there is also an end of time, hence an end of space as well. In fact, to God the entire universe may appear no larger than a steamer trunk.

The deceptive nature of space allows us to think we are isolated from God and He is disconnected or unconcerned.  And yet, He said to seven plus billion people on our planet, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” That is an intimate statement. If you throw in our guardian angels, we don’t have a minute alone on this planet.

Science needs to catch up to the Bible

In Brian Greene’s book, The Fabric of the Cosmos intended for non-scientific readers, his first chapter is a clear outline of the issues facing science today as the result of these investigations. (1) common reality and the new reality do not match. (2) string theory outlines a number, as many as 17 dimensions as yet unidentified. (3) space and time should be interchangeable but are not. (4) why does time always point forward, never backward, (5) why can’t we find a “unified theory” and (6) how can we explain all the different dimensions, referred to as string theory.

The Bible – imagine that – explains all of this. Virtually everything scientists have asked is answered by the Word of God. What scientists perceive but miss is the spiritual dimensions everywhere in space-time.

There are two types of time

There are two beginnings in time.  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The beginning is the big bang and God predates that so God is the Big Banger. The cosmos because it has a beginning, middle and an end will eventually be done away with. That describes the temporal beginning of the created universe.

The 2nd description of a beginning

In John 1:1 John says, “Before the beginning began, the Word was.”  John is referring to eternity which is outside of time.  He begins his gospel with the time prior to Genesis 1:1. God was then in eternity as he also is now. God inhabits both time and eternity.  Time will eventually be done away with; eternity is just that. John 1;1 places Jesus originally in eternity to emphasize why he is God in the flesh, and not just a man born into time.

Time and space will eventually end

God will, He said, roll earth up as a used garment and pitch it out.

Revelation 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Space and time are part of a unified whole BUT are also part of a “cosmic evolving.” They are relative to each other. The natural world works at one level and the cosmic at another. Scientists want to unify this but they can’t because they have not factored in eternity.

https://wouldyouconsider.net/2014/11/15/gods-view-of-time-kairos-and-chronos/

God is not “in” the universe

Scripture describes the unification in Colossians which says “God is all in all” and He is the “glue that holds the universe together.” This is not pantheism. God is no more in His creation than a woman is in a pie she bakes. He has contact with all parts of the universe because He chooses to do so.  Deism says God is not involved with his universe; poppycock!

God is in charge of more than we imagine

God has His hand in many things we ignore.  The weather for one. All the flap about Climate Change. God said the world would burn up, and he would do it.  Not man.  In the book of Amos He says he governs the weather, tornadoes, mildew, famine, hurricanes, floods, you name it.  All to prove a point.

As an example, think of the massive hurricane which wiped out most of New Orleans in 2005.  The hurricane was named Katrina which comes from a Greek word to”to cleanse.”  And New Orleans was a city of great pride in their moral depravity; Sodom and Gomorrah would be embarrassed to be so corrupt, and now it must start over.

He has a purpose for the universe. It is the training ground for human kind, their correction and eventual eternal life someplace else. The cosmos is not an end in itself; it is just a tool. The unification is the purpose for which the universe exists.

Colossians 1:16
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Many religions are cyclical

Animism, for example, and Buddhism and the many religions of India are based on the cycle of the seasons so their religions are time bound and include reincarnation which is cyclical in nature. That is to be expected from a cyclical religion.

Three religions are based on linear time – Judaism, Christianity and Islam.  They are all goal oriented and monotheistic so they recognize an end to time. They also do not recognize the end to human personality, all believing that we all live forever in an eternal state for good or ill.

Cyclical religion has no such future, even though eternity is built into human nature. I found that Chinese people may accept atheism as a political issue but they all seemed to believe in a Chinese heaven. I asked a small child what was God’s name and she quickly said, Shang Di, which describes a Creator god.

People do not lose their innate sense of God simply because a politician says so.  This is one of the main reasons Falun Gong has become so proactive in China and so dangerous, because it added the spiritual dimension to a secular world.

Physicists grapple with the invisible world

These goals God has for man also explain the ”arrow of time.” Greene wonders, if time and space go both ways, why you cannot unbreak eggs; once they are broken, no amount of action or prayer can turn them back to eggs inside shells. This truth about the universe flies in the face of the other physical evidence. But it makes sense according to the Bible. God has a plan and He put it into motion at the beginning.

Time only moves forward

We don’t turn back because there is no reason to do so. Moses was able to look at God’s back, not the front, because he (Moses) is supposed to be facing the future. If he looks at God’s front his view is of the past. This is the arrow of time. You will recall your personal dreams are of the present and future; dreams can explain the past but never change it. You and the cosmos are not going backward. “Back to the Future” is a movie drama, and nothing more.

If and when you get to heaven you will be able to see the past because everything in time is recorded. But returning to that point and changing it will be impossible.

Quantum physics does not recognize a spiritual dimension

The 3rd reason quantum physics is confused is because it puts the cart, the natural, before the horse, the spiritual. If you want to understand what is really happening look to the spiritual reality behind it. If you want to know why a dictator is killing his citizens, find out what wild mental problem he has, narcissism, ego mania, even insanity. Far too much time is spent looking at symptoms and causes are ignored. Quantum Physics wants to explain the reality before it explains the spiritual.

Time has value and is not static

The 4th problem is the flexible nature of time. Here is where the most casual of scientists can figure things out. Time appears to be uniform but it is not. Time not only goes only forward, it also has different values depending on the living.

When you are young time goes very slowly. What do all children say in the car. “Are we there yet?” every five miles. Children also have a misapprehension of space. Talk of the Gulf War frightened some children until their dad asked them to remember how long it took to drive to grandma’s house, only one day, and that this war was over 15 days car travel away. The children breathed a sigh of relief. They were learning relativity at an early age. In practice, learning the truth about Santa Claus teaches us relativity.

Then at old age days fly by. Where did time go? If this can happen in the life of every person, why can’t we apply this to the life of the universe? It started fast and is slowing down, but as it is slowly down it is also slowly down faster.

2nd Law of Thermodynamics – time is changing

In fact isn’t that the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics? That the world is slowing down and wearing out, just as we do. This law also states that there is no going backwards. God has made it clear that we are all goal oriented.

The Law of Entropy

But this leads to another question scientists need to re-examine – the law of entropy. Carbon dating standards appear set in some kind of inexplicable bronze. Current values are a product of Newtonian physics, not Einsteinium. But the world itself shows the effect of mistaken time.

Carbon dating ignores the effect of the invisible world on time. I hope before I die I see the entire science of carbon dating revised to show how time has altered events of the past.

Originally lifetimes were hundreds of years; Adam lived 900 years. lifetimes were drastically reduced after the flood and have increased especially in the past two centuries. Age 100 is not common now but the Bible predicts that will be the age of a child in the future.

A the world physically deteriorates, human beings are improving, living longer, working smarter and happier, except where politicians see to it that no one is happy. Man’s sweep of influence increases with his knowledge and power, but environmentally there is increasing decay.

The invisible world can be multi-dimensional

The final issue in modern physics is string-theory which they call dimensions. A dimension is where someone or something can exist, and into which we might want to travel. Any real dimension has, in fact, dimensions, i.e. length, breath, width.

People who have seen angels say they have gender, color, and bulk, hardly a string. But to the physicist, it may look like a string since they see the shadow, not the reality. All humans have personality which also is invisible. That too could be a string in which case there are seven billion strings on the planet today. My personality will live forever after I die so who is to say it is not a string, as yet an unidentified or unrecognized.

One dimension may be human personality

There is no reason to assume these dimensions are inanimate objects or places. They are more likely to be personalities, what the Bible calls souls, or psyche, meaning will, intellect and emotion.

The first being to show up in the cosmos was a personality – God. Other persons soon followed. Angels have personalities, which surely is one dimension; animals have Will, Intellect and Emotion too – they clearly are in another dimension. Other places where Will, Intellect and Emotion exist is in our dreams, our drug-induced visions, demonic spirits and demons, and possibly other beings identified as having personality. I think of the stars which sing.

Music as a dimension

You can say this is literary license, but the Bible says, “Thy word is truth.” So let us not be so cavalier in our interpretation. The stars sing. It does not say the star has a song; player pianos have songs. Singing is done by beings.

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Isaiah said mountains sing. In fact we can count sound as a dimension too. “No sound is without signification” which means a door slam, a dog bark or a brisk breeze means something. It may not have eternal meaning or  value but it does mean something.

1 Corinthians 14:10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.

David said he would prophesy, that is bring a message from God, on his harp (probably a guitar.) July 17, 2012, a guitarist on Kim Clement TV was “prophesying.” No interpretation was given and I did not get one, but the people there seemed to understand. Clearly this is a dimension we must not ignore.

Did God use music to create the universe

Some theologians believe that the language God used to create the universe was music. Spoken and written language is very limited but music, based on mathematics, has no limits.  So that theory makes sense. I have a book coming in 2020 which goes into more detail on this.

String theory says there is no empty space in space, -that something is there but what? The ancient Hebrews were not given to speculation but we modern Christians are. What if string theory is the mesh like reality of personalities in concert. Stay tuned. We have more research to do.

Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Daily Life in Heaven

Print Friendly and PDF

Heaven is not sitting on clouds playing the harp – bor-ing. No, heaven has been misrepresented by foes of God especially regarding His blessings for you. Some of the hidden blessings are learning things that straighten out key questions you have had all your life.

Heaven makes temporary loss into permanent gain

Johnny Cash’s brother died of a tragic accident and the memory of that, and the loss made an important difference in Cash’s life and the way he presented his music. In heaven he is reunited with his brother. God changes temporary loss into permanent gain.

Heaven explains the past

My father-in-law was murdered – or did he commit suicide? We have our suspicions about who did it and why. We never learned the truth. But now my husband has been united with the whole story. He will also know that what kind of punishment is in process for the man who we think shot him.

We do not believe the Bible supports the idea that suicide leads automatically to hell. My father-in-law was a believer but he made some mistakes. Like who doesn’t?

Surprises at every turn

That person who was imprisoned for being an ax murderer? There he is in heaven. That President you voted for twice? You haven’t seen a hair of the man yet. Even then, because there are so many new things in heaven, you will hardly notice they are missing.

God will fill in the blanks

And there are thousands of other pieces of information that make one’s life understandable. You’ll learn why someone had five miscarriages or what happened to mysteries unsolved on earth. You’ll get a chance to review the original history of the planet, who were the first families living on earth and where, what events like the flood, or even the final fiery end of time are going to be like.

And of course famous people. You may have access to them, their writings, their lives. I have always thought that Martin Luther was wrongly blamed for Antisemitism. There were no rules governing copyrights or intercultural property then. His enemies could have easily used his name on a publication and no one would know.

God wants you to look forward to heaven

If you go to heaven you get the answers you need and want. Hell has no blessings, no friends, no information, and more importantly, no relief. Worse yet, it is an important decision which many people take very casually.

Media Censorship is Narcissism

The Censors seem to think hate speech which they so rigorously cull has some legal validity. It does not.

Much of social media, Facebook, Quora, the news media, Big City newspapers, Google, Amazon, TV giants etc. censor what God has said and what religious people repeat in public calling it “hate speech.” China has gone after its own thinking dissidents- the Falun Gong and the Muslims in the far west areas – with so-far largely unreported torture, death and extensive imprisonment. https://www.theepochtimes.com/china-putting-minority-muslims-in-concentration-camps-us-says_2908698.html

Hate speech is not a legal concept

What they call hateful content is simply what someone does not like or agree with it; this reduces public discourse to emotion rather than thought. Laws in every country are based on actions not words, nor that most annoying of words, “feelings.” If someone does not like the idea that homosexuality is a personal choice, so be it. It is not an action and it should be placed in the category of an emotional response. Emotions are personal.

There is no such thing as a hate crime

Emotions have no force if they stand alone. But when jealousy, greed, anger, hate, or revenge take a virulent form and become an action, then it has the force of law, but the law is what is punished, not the emotion. It is quite possible to spend an entire life time being envious and not steal a thing!

Emotions not acted upon are simply that. And for social media to treat them as actions is a sign of their inability to think something through, or they’re living in their own, private opinions. Censorship is proof that someone is allowing his emotions to rule him. By extension media/corporate censorship and public disapproval is an extension of juvenile thinking patterns into the adult world. This explains why many adults are returning to childlike joys. https://www.theepochtimes.com/why-adult-recess-is-becoming-a-trend_3054765.html

On a grand scale, China is a nation of 1.3 billion censored people where the national police use face recognition software to identify Christians who attend church or anti-communist protests. From that information they can jail them or perhaps get them fired from their jobs.

Law is not the issue; their censorship is based in an emotion – in this case they fear that the public will rise up against the Communist system and select a better government. Communists have every good reason to believe this. Communists are not popular, they make five times as much money as non-communist workers and they answer to no one, or fancy as such.

The Falun Gong can completely change China

A major force for change is the spiritual group the Falun Gong which is challenging the mind control of the Communist system. It is a method of living spiritually based on Buddhist principles. The reason the Communist bosses fear it so much is that it has its origin in the Han People.

Communism as political narcissism

Christianity has always been called a white man’s religion so it was easy to be rejected by the entire community. But not so Falun Gong, which is native born. This religious group and the Hong Kong Protesters are the best omen that we will see the Communist system crack. The rest of the world will reap great benefits if China is freed to become one of the good nations.

Narcissism places the emotional self in charge

Rule by fear is at the core of dictatorship and an emotion that becomes legal in the hands of those with illegitimate power; no one is happy over that. Likewise, social media has placed their fear of being wrong over as well as their overwhelming notion that they are right over against the public’s opinion and commitments to something other than their own self-absorbed philosophy.

It’s juvenile; that’s what children do – they place their own welfare over everyone else. And of course it angers them so they lash out; consider the words incensed and censor and censorious in the same breath!

The moral law is not based on “feelings”

Narcissism applies to pedophiles, drunks, prostitutes and others who violate moral laws, since laws are based in actions not emotions. In the same vein there is no such thing as a hate crime because hate is an emotion not an action. To say that someone is guilty of a hate crime is an oxymoron.

Laws are about actions

Murder is an action; attempted murder and assault are actions; jealousy is an emotion but killing your rival is called murder. You do not even need to hate him or her. The criminal may hate something as well, but it cannot be measured. Greed, avarice, lust, anger, malice, evil, gossip and other sins of the personality cannot be measured so neither can they be quantified into law. Actions can be measured and the law recognizes these differences. The judge who is pronouncing sentence calls these extenuating circumstances. The judge doesn’t care.

Children live in an emotional world

And that is why we do not give children the keys to the car or the right to vote. Laws, not emotions, rule nations and determine how society is structured and managed. And touchy, personal responses are just that. Social media by censoring opinion demeans itself, and reduces itself to the level of children who live in an emotion-dominated world. It takes an adult to see the world in the impersonal terms of law, the place where problems are solved.

Emotion-driven children who live at the level of personal opinion cannot solve problems. And eventually the issue of so much media/corporate censorship will need the attention of the Supreme Court.
