Surefire Prayers for Politics

Several years ago a group of Christians decided on this prayer and have persisted in this prayer for a long time.  And it worked.  You will notice this as it reflects the news media.

Luke 12:3 Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.

As the words and actions of criminal enterprises by politicians and their aides continue to be exposed in the government, both here and abroad, you can verify that this prayer really works. Ask God to expose the plans for evil men to do harm. In most cases this will involve money transfers that are against the law. But, as in the case of the Steele Dossier, deliberate complex lies about someone in office or running for office came to light.

Lies supported by PAC money

The same kind of programs are cooked up in small elections which is harder to trace, but if it is done on a large scale is can change the face if the Congress very quickly because no one realizes it. In one case a group of people who oppose everything (no joke) took an audio tape and doctored it so the candidate was saying something she absolutely did not say. Voters have rushed to take sides with threats and vitriol which says more about them than it does about the poor candidate.

Christians have access to the mind of the Holy Spirit

Wise Christians need to examine very carefully this kind of thing because it may be happening in your jurisdiction which means the devil himself is managing the slander. And many candidates may be innocent of this fraud being done behind their backs. In this area we traced money from many other states and sources.

God know where those recording of the words of evil men are kept and He can bring them back to our ears.

A second prayer is also effective. It is the EXPOSURE prayer. Ask God to reveal what is going on.

Matthew 10:26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

For many years church people stayed away from politics but the Bible has another command. There it is in the Bible – a prayer about a cover-up.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Another word for reproof is rebuke or reprimand. We are not to let them get away with this.

You can consider this the best group of prayers for any election at any time, including those happening in foreign nations. After all, God is god of the whole universe, not just we Westerners.

You have your marching orders.

How to Pray for Candidates

It is not true that being a candidate for public office is easy. It takes a very different person to be a good candidate as opposed to being a good officeholder. That may be one of the reasons most voters ignore the down-ballot candidates and focus on the House, Senate and Presidency. But in fact, the entire ticket needs our full attention because those people running with the top candidates are as much a part of the team as the leaders.

Pray for leaders is required, expected

This month we had a primary in our state, as you probably will have in yours. The top leaders were an easy call, but to my surprise people I did not know and barely heard of were nominated from my party. Several ones I voted for were way-y-y down the line.

  • 1 Timothy 2 King James Version (KJV)
  • I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
  • For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
  • For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
  • Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Notice Timothy who is speaking to his local congregation, says there is a job to be done first. More often than not it is done last in my church or not at all.

We are to give thanks for all men and these leaders. You know how hard that has been just recently and certainly not done in public. Our leaders of both parties have been cursed publicly, not to mention the cartoons and the flurry of hate mail. Our candidates have had slanderous and libelous publicity about them, deliberate lies paid for by campaign funds.

Good leaders bring Peace

We have had a decade or more of no peace, yet we are to pray precisely for these leaders to bring the kind of peace that allows us to worship in our own way and to bring others into God’s kingdom. The end for us personally is holiness, not that we hear much about that these days, and honest dealings. One day reading the newspapers and watching TV can assure you that honesty is no longer available.

Truth is missing in politics

A peaceful political climate allows men to be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth. Clearly one thing that God wants us to realize is that if our government is not peaceful neither will there be truth. If we look at foreign nations where there is civil war, want, despair, poverty and conflict, there are poor or even evil leaders, and no peace.

Sample prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank you that you have promised me that you would govern our lives, that your goals are peace and honest dealings. I confess I have not been faithful to pray for my leaders and often cursed them, only to see them replaced by others I did not like as well. Please bless the leaders of the country and teach them through the Holy Spirit to listen to you and take seriously their jobs. You said you died for all men. Please enter the arena of government and direct their lives so we may, the world over, have peace.

When you Pray? and to Whom?

buddah-173621__180

Simmie and her husband are immigrants from Indonesia.  She escaped from China and is an implacable foe of Communism.  Together they run a successful beauty shop known for high quality work.  They both wear the brown prayer beads that identify Buddhists; both are very happy and fulfilled in their lives.  They remember President Ronald Reagan’s defeat of the Soviets and are conservative voters.

I like my appointments early so when Simmie shows up I am already there. She takes about 5 minutes  before work to stand in front of the little plastic Buddha in a corner of the shop.  She gives a daily offering, which is often fruit, and says some prayers standing there silently. (Buddhists in China eat the fruit for lunch.) Orientals are a quiet sort anyway.  Then she begins her work day.

I marvel at this sight.  Here is a plastic Buddha manufactured by presses in the Pacific Rim (even by those new copy machines filled with liquid plastic)  and painted with fake gold.  Sometimes these Buddhas are ceramic and covered in real gold.   But no matter.  I wonder, “Whatever good will that do? This is just plastic; he can’t talk back.“

Most people, even some Buddhists, don’t know that Buddha did not claim to be God, only that he had the wisdom of God.  And in fact, many people are wise.

This is a god who cannot answer

My God can talk back. I want my God to tell me, “That is a stupid idea,” or – “You are on the right track.”  I left Texas because God said, ”Start packing.” I could not be happier with the results of the move.  Buddha can’t tell me that.

In China I asked one teacher, a  Buddhist, “What is God’s name?”  She answered, “Shang Di.”  That is the Chinese word for the creator God.  Then I asked, “Do you know His first name?”  She did not.

I said, “His first name is Jesus.”  In October 2018 someone told me she accepted Jesus as Messiah, finally after 10 years.  These things take time.

What do we do with the Simmies in our midst?  We need to tell them that our god can talk back.  Not through a priest, or even a prophet, but directly.  I love hearing testimonies of people who have Jesus show up – sur-prise, sur-prise.  He will do it.  When Christians pray.
