The Kingdom of Heaven (God) vs. Heaven

Defining Heaven vs. the Kingdom of Heaven or God

The gospels frequently mention both the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of God.  Reading the King James Version, one might think these are two separate places, but there is a reason for the difference in language.

Matthew uses the term kingdom of heaven exclusively.  This is to be expected of a Jew who dares not mention the name of God.  Even today you will read statements from Jews who carefully put a hyphen or underline between G and D (G_d or G-d) as to not breathe the name of the Almighty.  On only five occasions in Matthew the Kingdom of God is used. Luke and Mark use the term Kingdom of God exclusively. The book of John uses the Kingdom of God only twice.

Kingdom of Heaven & Kingdom of God the Same

So what is it?  The kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of God refer to the same place but Heaven is a separate place. In heaven, God is in charge.  Jesus prayed for this version of heaven, that is where God is in charge come to earth so we can enjoy it here and now, not wait until after we die. From the Lord’s prayer:

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. We are to seek it first so we can enjoy it here.

Jesus’ parables about the kingdom emphasized that with the proper attitude you could enjoy the kingdom right now.

Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

What is The Kingdom

The Kingdom of God is defined in Romans 14:17.  For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

No, we do not need to wait until we die to have righteousness, peace and joy or any part thereof.

Matthew 6:33  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

The Kingdom is Won by Our Spiritual Warfare

Having sought the kingdom, how do you know you have a portion of it? You know you are a kingdom person by your warfare against the demonic world.

Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.  I feel sure the Pharisees and Sadducees in Jesus’ time scratched their heads over this one. In fact they called him names!

The kingdoms of heaven (God) are distinct from Heaven, a place distinct from planet earth, our final reward.  While we have the demonic to deal with here and now, in heaven Satan and his henchmen are conquered.  In fact, because there is no evil in heaven, there is no reason for them to be there.  Evil is God’s way of requiring us to make a decision – on earth – of whom we are to worship and obey.

Today’s Victory is Over the Demonic World

The victory of the kingdom of God (heaven) is the victory over the demonic world.  This is shown in the scripture about Peter being given the keys to death and hell.

Matthew 16:  18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Read Peter 1 and 2

Now that I know that Peter was given the keys to handling the demonic world, I think I shall read the two books of Peter again.  I do not want to miss the Kingdom if it is so close by.

Symbolism – Colors and Their Meaning

The Bible contains the meanings of words, colors included telling us to compare spiritual with spiritual, not spiritual with the natural interpretation.

1 Corinthians 2:13 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

The meaning of colors in based on the rainbow. It signifies God’s promise to all mankind, not just Christians and Jews.rainbow2

The colors are in order, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and finally violet, or purple. They form naturally in the sky. It is a picture of the path to the Kingdom of God which is the Christian goal. God’s kingdom we pray:

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

To enter the Kingdom you begin with red, which stands for the blood sacrifice, Jesus. No one comes into the presence of the Father without having recognized the blood covenant and its purposes.

Next is orange which is for deliverance from evil forces including demons and curses. A good bit of ignorance surrounds this in today’s churches leaving them to fight against evil without proper information and the results are sad.

After one has dealt with the devil you come to yellow which stands for holiness. Silver symbolizes redemption, and gold is holiness. It may seem superfluous to say this, but one can hardly expect to make any progress in the life of the Kingdom without having a genuine holiness. There is a form of Godliness which has no power. Pity.

2 Timothy 3:4-6 (KJV) 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

After yellow comes green meaning information, and growth. Many national companies use green for health, harvest, and information. Before you can have faith in God, which comes next, you need the Bible which contains the information you need.

Blue symbolizes faith. Without faith it is impossible to go on. Yes, everyone has a measure of faith which is provided to him/her but beyond this faith must be exercised at every single level if one wishes to progress in holy things.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Romans 12:3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

I’ve heard Bible teachers and members of congregations say “I do not believe” this or that in the Bible and guess what? They don’t really, so move on. So there is not much reason to sit under their teaching. (Don’t confuse activity with progress. The devil can keep you busy for many years.)

After blue comes indigo. Some people call this lavender, or even shocking pink. It stands for spiritual warfare. Being a warrior for God comes after you have been through the previous processes, otherwise the devil tears your tail off. Spiritual Warfare brings a victory and after that comes the crown.

All ancient kings wore purple since purple dye was wildly expensive and only they could afford it. It comes from the crushing of a tiny little sea “worm” which produced the color. So now perhaps we can understand when the Palmist said, I am a worm and no man.

Psalm 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.

Jesus was crushed for us all and now wears purple in heaven as King.

You will rule and reign with Christ here on earth if this process is yours. At this point the rainbow is a finished product. Your life has reached its goal.

Coming soon.
