As a very young Christian I became a counselor for several Billy Graham movies during the 70s. They were quite popular and effective. Graham trained volunteer who would be available after the movie to counsel audience members who wished to follow Christ. We also gave them some simple but thorough written materials to take home. Each well thought out program began with the simple gospel message of personal sin, Jesus’ salvation and finally a public confession. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:10 We were instructed to ask the person to repeat the words of a standard confession in a few brief phrases after we did.
I had two little girls, one 10, the other about 12. They listened respectfully. Then the younger of the two told how much she loved Jesus, and all her experiences in Bible school and church. How happy she was! I was floored. I hardly expected that. The other girl was silent most of the time, but listened and behaved.
I began to read the confession in the book out loud, first for the younger, because I knew she already knew Christ and her example would motivate her friend. I would say a short phrase; she would repeat it. She did it perfectly. Then I turned to the second girl.
Here is how her “confession” sounded. “I believe in brurb…gh….thh……” She could not say the phrase. So I started again “I believe in blubbd…thgns…..psssnnsr….” So I stopped.
I recalled a scripture from 1 John which was not in my prepared materials. No man can say except by the Holy Spirit that Jesus is Lord. I John 4:22-23 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God;
So I stopped and asked her to repeat after me: “Jesus is God come in the flesh.”
She couldn’t do it. I tried it again. Again she could not say it. Keep in mind that out of the mouth comes not just words and air, but also the spirit. This girl was unable to say the confession. Consequently I gave her the materials but in no way confirmed that she was “saved” because clearly she was not. Inside the Spirit would not allow those words to come out.
We do a disservice to people when we endorse their “salvation” so easily. The New Testament church believers were required to submit to a year or two of review, cleansing and teaching. This was all the more important because Christians were being slaughtered by the Roman authorities, and in other parts of the Mediterranean as well. To allow into the fellowship the wrong person could mean your death or imprisonment..
How many people are blissfully living life, fully believing they are saved when their heart is not right?
The scripture is clear. Jesus paid the price for every man’s sin by the blood shed at his death. But because of the limitations of life, He could not actually give his life literally for every person. If that were so He would need to be born, mature and then die for billions upon billions of people, the exact number we do not know. We do know that the number of souls God created in heaven prior to our birth is huge. So literal birth-death is physically impossible.
How then could Jesus die for each Man and still die for mankind as a whole?
It was done by negotiation. Consider that you have a large piece of acreage for sale. No one else is bidding on it. Satan already has his claws into the property and will not give it up; in fact he has sole custody thanks to egregious mistakes by Adam. (And lest we congratulate ourselves remember that we would have been just as rebellious as the First Pair.) The human race is both physically and spiritually doomed.
Since Jesus could not be born billions of times, He would have to negotiate the price. From the foundation of the world Elohim (God in Hebrew) counseled together to select “the agreed upon price.” The price was high. The sacrifice would need to be absolutely sinless, the very opposite of the condition of Man, and he would need to be born just as anyone else and go through life reacting to evil in perfect, sinless obedience. The Old Testament law regarding sacrifices is not a bore if you notice how the priests followed the very process by which a sacrifice was selected. Jesus fit perfectly.
Can you image what a hard test this is? Look at your tot in a high chair, crying “MINE!” at the top of his lungs. Rebellion is deep in the heart of man, no matter the size. He is not a bad child; he is merely human. (Proverbs 22:15) It comes with the territory.
The perfect plan required that the savior be born sinless without the taint of human error. Mary, Jesus’ mother, did not have to be sinless because the Sin is transferred through the father’s line….. You know, like father, like son. (Genesis 3:17)
The only way a sinless child can be brought forth is if the Father is God Himself, guaranteeing that the DNA of this child is unique in all the universe. Then the blood also would be sinless. Satan can’t fake that – ever, which is why the Kingdom of Evil fell apart in despair after realizing it had engineered the salvation of man and its own demise as well. (1 Cor 2:8)
So that is why Jesus can say at the very end, “It is finished.” The word in Greek is tetelestai, meaning Paid in Full. You too were included in this number.
Are you automatically saved? No. Not until you have a heart change and accept His free gift of eternal life. Today is the day of salvation.
As the political situation becomes more difficult, not just in the USA but also and most urgently worldwide, more and more people ask when will God come to judge the earth. Almost all information on this is divisive and unclear. Isaiah speaks of the Day of Wrath.
Isa 13:13-15 – The day of wrath is the day of the lord. (KJV) 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
Here is where everyone returns to his own land. Whether this applies to us believers is a matter of discussion and on whether you believe the rapture occurs before the day of the Lord, or after this passage or whether you believe it is later on. Definitely one thing is sure – we will all decide on which side of Right or Wrong we stand.
There are 3 interpretations of the “day of the Lord.”
1 – Believers are raptured and watch the events as a cloud of witnesses.
2 – Believers stay here through the judgment and are protected, hidden in some safe place.
3 – Believers stay through the judgment and act as helpers to those whom God wants to save because God has said, “occupy ‘til I come” so we do not leave our post.
The answer to this question depends on timing. Since God lives in eternity, when He speaks of time its relevance to us is like walking through a mist. When He says “soon” we cannot know if this is 10 years or 100.
These questions have no universal agreement as of yet. I feel sure they will be straightened out in due time. For now, I’d suggest that no one can be absolutely sure.
I’ve urged, begged for delay, advised, prayed. But there comes a time when a situation must end. God said, “Today is the day of salvation.” It’s not a day in the future. It’s right now. 2 Corinthians 6:2 For He says: “In an acceptable time I have listened to you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation. God has eternity – we do not.
Man is not given unlimited time to do what he has to do. The Psalmist says, Seek ye the Lord while he may yet be found. Call upon Him while He is near and he will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:6 So there is a time when maybe He is not to be found? Not near? Not pardoning? When is that? Those dry, unavailable times will be experienced by us all. We need them to prove to us that God is real, that He is interested and involved with our lives. His absence makes that real.
We do not always have an option. Perhaps Christians do a disservice to people when we tell them of God’s mercy, so full and free, but never warn that the time may slip away, and never be available again for a very long time. Continue reading
I’ve been active in politics since 1960 and never have I seen so much change and turmoil. But God is neither surprised nor unprepared. These following words come from the ministry of Kim Clement who has a remarkably accurate record of predicting the truth.
In addition 500 Christian pastors are running for public office in 2016. This reminds me of the Revolutionary War, when Pastors announced from their pulpits that they were removing their black robes and girding on a sword for America. It influenced many people at that time.
God is not either a Democrat or a Republican.
SOME GOOD NEWS (PROPHECIES) REGARDING THE CURRENT POLITICAL SITUATION
December 31, 2014 As I saw these different flags, the Spirit of God said to me, there shall be a revelation that shall bring the United Nations to a place of dismay and humiliation. I shall, this next year, I shall deal with corrupt leaders, even in the United States of America and there shall be shining lights that will come from a people that will say “we are dissatisfied with Republicans and we are dissatisfied with Democrats.” There is a new party that has arisen and shall come forth and capture the hearts of the young people, says the Lord.
February 22, 2014 This man will throttle the enemies of the West, and there are highly embarrassing moments that are about to occur for many, many politicians in this nation. There will be a shaking amongst the Democrats in the upcoming elections, but unsettling for the Republicans.
October 29, 2010 -What you are about to see with your own eyes is how the people of this nation will turn things around. There is a changing of the guard that’s coming your way. Something very unusual is about to transpire. They will say, what has happened to the Democrats? They’ll say what’s happened to the liberals? They’ll say, what has happened to the Democrats, then they’ll say what’s happened to the Republicans as well? For God says I am joining forces so that something fresh and something new may arise. How many of you are ready for something new to arise? Now they’ll say, what’s happened to the Democrats? Now they say what’s happened to Republicans? We are ready for change! We are ready for change! We are ready for change! We are ready for change! The Spirit of the Lord says they will say, what’s happened to the left? They’ll look to the right and say, what’s happened to them? Then they’ll say what’s happened to those who have called themselves liberal and those who are conservatives. Then they’ll look straight ahead and they’ll hear the sound of righteousness.
October 14, 2006 -I spoke of unbuckling the Bible belt and revealing and exposing the nakedness. Well, God says, be thrilled about this, when I have exposed nakedness I clothe with garments of righteousness. And this is what shall take place in Florida. This will take place in Massachusetts. This will take place in the Northeast. This will take place in Texas. This will take place on the west coast. I’ll go as far as Oregon but God said listen, there is going to be great exposures of nakedness and then I will clothe with righteousness and this nation shall experience a breakthrough and a revival as it has prayed for, for 100 years. It shall shake this nation, says the Lord.
Originally published Februay 27, 2016 I have renamed it abuse to cover the main issue in violent and destructive behavior. Ultimately abusers do not know who they are and consequently they fail to recognize the personhood of those they abuse, including animals. It was originally entitled The Spiritual Roots of Islam.
Westerners have been for many centuries so isolated and separated from Muslim peoples that we are playing catch-up in our understanding. We are hampered because we frequently don’t know a thing about our own spiritual roots, any more than we know theirs. It is easy to blame them for the massive evil on the earth, especially in Europe but their ways are creeping more into American life.
At one time in the deep historical past, all men knew the same things. They may not have obeyed those truths, but they were all on the same page. They knew that God had created the heavens and the earth; they knew that a blood sacrifice was required for reuniting with that Creator God. They knew that if you took a life, yours would be required of you. This was prior to the Jews and their complete religious and social law. Everyone even had the same language.
After the languages changed culture changed and those assumptions, even though ignored, were gone and religious systems, magic, witchcraft, myth and Lord only knows what arose. And out of Judaism arose Islam. Today’s Islamic peoples do not know this, but their political-religious system is based on a lie. Before we condemn them remember when you learned that you had been lied too? You were furious – felt betrayed. So for the moment ignore the fact that millions of Islamic believers are ignorant and deceived. It’s the roots we are examining here, not modern man. We’ll get to him in due time.
The lie started with the birth of Ishmael, the first son of Abraham who had been promised by God that he would be the father of many nations when his wife Sarah had a baby boy. As it would happen, Sarah became impatient and suggested that her husband have a child by a slave woman. The nation now living from their patriarch Ishmael believes that because he is the first son, they are entitled to the promise God gave Abraham. He is not. God’s promises are specific and not open to interpretation or change. (Malachi 3:6 – I am the Lord. I change not.) Sarah had to be the mother of Isaac. Period.
Thousands of years of Jew vs. Muslim fighting began. We in the West paid virtually no attention to it because it did not impact us very much. And Americans as a people have tended to address issues only after they become egregiously bad.
Thomas Jefferson, our 3rd President, sent the Marines to Tripoli to deal with the Muslims. Spain had to throw them out, as is happening now in Europe. They have bombed and fought their way west having been told by their religious leaders that they are going to rule the whole world for Islam, by hook or crook. Their religious book, the Koran, tells them it is acceptable to kill Christians (infidels) or in fact anyone else who disagrees with them. Those are the simple facts and have nothing to do with my opinion or yours. Out of this lie has come forth all the evils we see in our headlines – beheadings, killing babies, stoning to death women who wear makeup or drive a car, in what is a complete disregard for the value of life.
The international elevation of Islam as a violent political system which drives and feeds on evil is the natural child of a massive lie. Truth begets truth; lies beget lies in increasing number. If you have ever lied you know how hard it is to keep up with them; it takes more lying to do so. It’s exhausting. We have no reason to believe any of this will change in modern life.
It is true that large numbers of Muslims have become Christians. JewsNews on Facebook informs us of a continued stream of Muslims becoming Jews. Apparently the violence and the complete breakdown of life in the Middle East has prompted these changes. Most people do not want to die, or see their homes, families and all they have worked for destroyed. This has not happened as much in the USA where we have a more structured civil society. But many Muslims still want and believe in a governmental takeover, so we must not assume they are willing to play by our Constitutional rules when they come here. The root of the system is still a lie, and until that lie is broken the problem will continue.
Modern Muslims have added two principles which make things even worse. (1) Taqqiya: Islamists interpret their scripture to say that they are allowed to lie about the nature of Islam in order to further their political goals. (2) Abrogation allows Muslims to ignore a previous Koranic passage in favor of a newer, better one. This essentially negates all verses that were written before the abrogation. It also means you as an outsider have no way of knowing what the rule actually is. So laws can be made up on the spot.
This kind of behavior allows middle aged men to “marry” girls of 5 and 6 years for a short period of time, and then un-marry them. The results are pure wickedness, as often these children die from the sexual experience. If Sharia Law becomes standard anywhere in the USA you can be sure lawlessness will ensue. Thanks to abrogation, it can change without notice and you are all of a sudden guilty.
Now we are at the bottom of this business. Islam has rejected the Law of God both as it applies to Jews and more importantly as it applies to all men. If you do not believe that God created the heavens and the earth, and therefore all other humans, then what is a tiny child? She is a “thing.” This is called the reification of persons, making a human being a thing. When that happens, the sky for evil is the limit.
Before we congratulate ourselves on our superior culture let me remind you that 50 million American babies, mere “things” have been destroyed since 1962 Roe v. Wade. In addition we have increased drug, alcohol, and porn here at home, an indication people don’t know who they are or what they are doing to God’s creation, their own body. They think of themselves as things. Marriages break down because husbands think their wives, as things, should perform as things. If they don’t they are replaced by other things. Some women even believe this and allow themselves to be abused.
Sex perversion is not an issue to Thing People because the body is simply a short-term asset for a short-life so the consequences of evil behavior in this life have no impact. If you get STDs or oral cancer from oral sex, so what? You were going to die anyway of something. By the time an adult nurtured on these lies of origin wises up, it is too late to change the consequences of immoral living. The person who believes he is a thing, should he live long enough, may become totally depraved. Workers in mental institutions will verify this.
Fortunately the demands of modern life are such that people may come to a quicker realization of their predicament. They may not be able to change their minds completely, but at least they realize that the fruits of that lifestyle are not leading to the pursuit of happiness.
At the root of this malaise is the theory of evolution which negates the principle that God created everything. Evolution is unproven; but that bothers no one if they want to abandon all morals and do anything they wish. For the lawless it is a perfect theology. And it has become the quasi-theology of our age thanks to an ever decaying educational system and the silly notion that ideas don’t count. Evolution allows us to deceive ourselves that there are no consequences for behavior. If the moral law is invalid then I can do pretty much as I please. Whatever feels good! We see anarchy everyday now, shootings and marches, burning buildings, lootings and shoplifting. Some political figures make their living stirring up trouble.
We are being ruled by emotions. Unhappy people are routinely asked How do you feel? Jesus never said that even one time. He said ” What do you think?” Thinking precedes action. Feelings are a reaction. For that I suggest Dr. Phil. Feelings have no power to break the lie over a life.
How do you break the power of a lie- particularly one so strong that it makes demonic hirelings out of its most violent adherents?
There is no power against the Truth. That is why freedom of speech, religion, and assembly is not the last but the FIRST Amendment of the Constitution. The US Constitution is the set of rules we agree to live by. Without that we are powerless to preserve our lives. It means we should not allow others to shut us up. or change the Constitution wily-nily. Of course it will have repercussions – it always does. Other people’s lack of understanding should not hamper your behavior. If you know what you know, then you are free to repeat it. Churches have also gotten cold feet about the truth, but I notice that many of those are losing members. People have an ear for truth who actually want it, and will not finance fraud. I think we can expect some denominations to fade entirely.
One of the major TV news stations reported, to their dismay, that over 70% of American young people believe in Biblical creation. Perhaps they had assumed that the mental conditioning which ignored basic truth had been replaced by the evolutionary thinking of amoral man. I breathed a sigh of relief. That is the first helpful prophetic idea I’ve heard in a long time. When people go back to the Biblical way of thinking there is hope even if they are not sure why. Thank you God.
When I heard a preacher say that the organization of the books of the Bible had no overall plan, I thought “God is never careless like that. You can always see a design in everything He does” so I began looking for it. Jews, ancient and modern, find patterns in their scriptures, something we Westerners do not do as often. For example, there is a pattern in the 10 plagues of Egypt. Two plagues give a warning, then the third does not. This continues up until the 10th. What does that mean? I don’t know, but the pattern is there.
Now about the pattern regarding the arrangement of the Bible.
GODS PLAN for TIME(version 1) If you can, print this Excel spreadsheet out.
You will notice that John 1:1 identifies that eternity begins before natural time begins in Genesis 1:1. God created the entire world system prior to revealing it in Genesis. The Jerusalem Bible translates John 1:1 this way: “Before the beginning began the Word was.”
The first principle of earth is free will. God does not violate our free will; He simply adds a layer of His will accessible to us through our obedience. Our free will limits His authority but He has done this for our benefit. When people ask why doesn’t God step in and fix situations the answer is right here. And many people do not believe in God precisely because they expect an all-powerful deity to make things right. God’s insistence on our free will in this earth limits HIM, and frees us. As a young girl in a small country in a little town, Mary would probably have had no sophisticated contacts, no formal education, and only a peripheral view of the Temple or synagogue life. Like her parents she would have gone to the required festivals under the Torah, and stayed in the open court of the women away from the action enjoyed only by men. Yet one day an angel shows up in the kitchen or the garden, where most teens would be helping out and she hears astonishing news.
Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.
Why did she react the way she did? Here is some great foreign, frightening being telling her she is going to have a baby? All the other people in the Old Testament were afraid when an angel showed up.
The angel never says this baby is going to be the Messiah. What did she think? All young women wanted to be the mother of the Messiah in that generation, but certainly not someone in a humble home of no reputation. The Messiah’s coming would be announced in the Temple at Jerusalem by the High Priest, most suredly. Perhaps she believed that this baby was a new type of miracle? She did not have as we do 2000 years of history where all these events are explained. Her faith is being tested here.
Did she wonder to herself, Who is the figure? Is this another Rosemary’s baby? Maybe this apparition is from the nether world (what King James people called hell or pre-hell where the dead waited to be released into heaven.)
But she accepted this being and his message. She did not say something I might have said, “But, people will think I am a loose woman. That I’ve had sex outside of marriage. That will make my baby a bastard. What am I going to tell my parents? I will be shunned. What if my fiance Joseph dumps me? He has every right to do this? How can you ask me, a virgin, to accept this without knowing what will happen:? How can I expect to raise this child by myself, without income, without skills? I’ll never get a decent husband this way. I am ruined. The angel said I had favor with God. If this is favor, who needs it?”
But she didn’t say any of that. She said
“I am the Lord’s servant, and I am willing to do whatever he wants. May everything you said come true.” And then the angel disappeared. Luke 1:38 Living Bible
Now that takes faith. She did not say that she had faith in God’s word, although she believed it was God’s word to her, but in fact, her faith was in the angel’s word. She was willing to believe the one who brought the word to her. And as a lesson to us two thousand years later, we too must be ready to believe the words of faith and responsibility. We too should learn to say, “Let it be done according to the Word of God.” That is true submission and it is also why Mary, as well as we, can be called Blessed.
And Mary did pay a price for saying yes. She was considered a fallen woman in her home town; she had to watch her son die as an enemy of the Jewish religion; she continued to live in a society where her son’s preminence was not known or believed. She did not know the end from the beginning. But still she said yes.
God asks all of us to say yes at some point in our lives. Like Mary we are not told the future; that is the crux of living by faith. There are those who never say yes – they die before their time, unfulfilled, in self-pity and blame. The yes-men have an inheritance in heaven; the no-men have little or nothing to show for their lives.
Christmas is about something new, even radical, coming into the world. This generation has fallen into despondency; the American church is self-indulgent and lazy. It needs the new, the Godly, the blessings that faith brings. The only requirement is a people submitted to God and willing to be servants, obedient to the next call, the next command from the throne. The future, your future, demands this. Are you ready to say yes?
